Ward will smother you and bully you in a way 48 yo B-Hop cannot. He never gave Froch a moments peace and inside he likes to work instead of just throwing a few and then killing the action. Both smart, dirty and sneaky but Ward is far more difficult to beat.
I can't really describe what Hopkins does these days as 'boxing,' he's developed this very effective style whereby he can win boxing matches without actually doing any boxing. I think he was a great fighter, a legend, but I have absolutely no desire to see any fight involving him and haven't done for a while. Froch on the other hand...
Froch loses to Hopkins in a similar way to how everyone else loses to Hopkins, it would be a terrible fight to watch. I think Froch should he get past Kessler will either go back and fight Ward again or move up to LHW and fight Cleverly or Pascal if he has a belt. Ward has definitely expressed an interest in the Froch rematch so it could happen. The one fight I would like to see Hopkins take would be against Ward also, that would be a very interesting tactical fight.
Given that Hopkins has a recent-ish win over Jean Pascal, and just picked up another title against Tavoris Cloud, I don't agree that Froch wouldn't get credit for a win. I actually think it would be a great win for his legacy. Calzaghe didn't look good against Hopkins, and some people would call it a draw or could give it to Hopkins. If Froch could do better... He may not be the best boxer out there, but he has proved plenty of people wrong before.
A younger hopkins would win easily. This old hopkins might struggle... But also we need to see what froch would be like at higher weight class
Fight would be as awful as every other Hopkins effort. Most fighters against him end up getting into a situation where they can't let their punches go. Carl doesn't exactly throw tonnes of punches at the best of the time and isn't discouraged - he kept throwing against Dirrell even when missing so I can't see him being humiliated in the way like Pavlik was.
