This is a nice different view of the Foreman-Frazier fight i quite like. I always thought at 1:14 he was talking to Joes corner but looks like a taunt to Joe. At 3:25 he really starts to plead with Joes corner and looks like he says ''I'm going to kill him''? Not sure though always what i thought he said though. [yt]fALsRfB8zqQ[/yt]
Quite possibly the most devastating display of strength, power, and ruthless aggression in heavyweight history. It looks even more devastating from those angles. He just mugged Joe, straight up beat his ass.
What makes it even more scary is the fact that Joe's really not fighting badly; he just doesn't have any way to keep George at bay; or to prevent him from unleashing bomb after bomb after bomb.
It's really quite an amazing watch. Startling. You just don't see genuine ATG's being treated like that. Damn impressive poise and composure, too, considering his age and it being his first big fight.
True from watching this fight i would have never guessed George was a bundle of nerves against Frazier the first time.
What a show of heart and courage by Frazier, too. At that point he was getting dropped every couple of seconds, totally and massively outgunned, but he just keeps getting right back up and actually trying to carry on. A display of their respective freak attributes in full.
Yes, both this and what Magna said. Joe counters with a left hook on the ropes but he's already done, Foreman doesn't even blink and it's just a question of how much longer it can last. Brutal.
The beginning of the second round Frazier presses George with a double jab. My oh my how does Frazier just go straight back into the fire after that 1st round. Foreman seems a little perplexed by it as well. Regardless of the angle, you can always hear Angelo Dundee. "Come on Joe, hang in there Joe, hang in there." Why was Dundee so supportive and encouraging to Frazier? Did he have a soft spot for him? Did he fear this monstrous Foreman as a potential opponent for his guy Ali? Maybe he didn't want to go all that way for such a short fight. Perhaps he bet on Joe.
Great footage, Ive never seen this angle before. Scary indeed. The fourth and sixth knockdowns always stuck with me, Joe really got brutalized. Foreman was a ruthless animal, and he ate more hooks than you would think like they were nothing. Frazier was a machine though, to get up from those shots is incredible. Joe had balls to face Foreman again after this. And yes it is even clearer from this angle that Foreman taunted Frazier after an early knockdown, one bad mofo.
Yeah, probably wasn't betting on him. But he was supportive and then wanted it stopped not too long after that. It was really a two minute gap between "Hang in there." and "Stop the fight."
I think that is possibly Dick Saddler who literally mounted the apron and ran along the ropes momentarily giving Foreman advice. He's lucky he did not cause Foreman to get disqualified.
