DeGale & Groves could have turned into that had they been kept apart. Could even say Chisora & Haye. The difference between those two and Eubanks v Benn were they were genuine rivalries from outside of boxing.

    Price v Fury maybe.

You will never get that Benn v Eubank buzz for a long time because of ITV.

Hatton v Witter if handled right could have been that way.

It wasn't near as 'fierce' as the Eubank-Watson rivalry. That was real.

Enlighten me on why it was so fierce, please?

  5. If Fury & Price both pick up World Titles it could approach being that big.

If that happens you could even throw Haye in the mix as he'd no doubt be interested then.

You just don't get boxers with a decent lisp anymore. Ok Price pronounces his 's' as 'sh' but it's not quite as scary as a full blown lisp.

  7. It's all about personalities and fury price has everything needed

Two very different people who will invoke great passion from fans in who they support

No, I don't think we'd see something like that again, not without ITV.

Promoters just can't build the rivalries any more because they're so hell bent on keeping lads apart, as opposed to sticking them in and allowing a rivalry to build between the best of the bunch, and then putting them on the same bill, **** like that.

Benn vs Eubank was unique though, in British terms, perhaps world terms too. Can't think of a rivalry quite like it.

    Genuine disdain.

Eubank didn't even dislike Benn, and Watson detested Eubank deeper than Nigel ever did.

In pre-fight pressers/photos etc esp before the 2nd fight, it was very, very intense between Eubank and Watson, like a volcano waiting to erupt. Something dark about it.

I reckon Eubank and Degale. If eubank moves up. Or degale moves down.

yeah i agree with atberry, eubank v watson was probably more fierce. watson was annoyed by the decision of the 1st fight and eubank use to look down he's nose at watson in press conferences and michael didn't like all the comments about boxing being a mugs game etc. i cant remember if it was 1st or 2nd fight but eubank walked out of the press conference.

theres some great pre-fight stuff on youtube of watson/eubank.

Price-Fury is the closest that comes to mind if handled correctly, a clash of personalities.

Never before in the history of the sport, have we have potentially 4 Heavyweights who could fight for world titles and hold their own at world level. The heavyweight is still the biggest division in boxing and always will be, its still the most exciting, and is still the only division that can hit a subliminal emotional spot with the general society. I made a bold statement over a year ago, that Fury, Price, Chisora, Haye are all on collision course! Look how huge Chisora vs Haye was..? and the racist/upper class media broadcasters tried their best to block it out! Price vs Fury if that fight was signed tomorrow would be huge even still..? It would have to be fought on neutral grounds, because i truly believe there would be riots! And even still i predict if that fight is ever made, there will be riots, there will be violence outside of the ring.

It is a very exciting time for Heavyweight boxing, i honestly believe a sleeping giant has awoken. The athletes make the sport they are the asset, and the product. Unlike other sports like Football, it does not matter if the players are poor, people will still watch because Football is a product, the football team is the asset! Football players are just workers! Individual sports are a whole different business model, and are totally dependant on the success of its individual business men! Which technically boxers are.

Boxing's not dead, never has been! Its the same as always.
