i seriously doubt showtime guaranteed him all that money for him to fight whomever he wants. They generally match up pretty competetive fights so its not like they dont know what they are doing. im sure they put in a few stipulations regarding the guarantee. if his ppv doesnt produce, im sure they will have a say so in who he fights next.

Look up the word of guarenteed. You think Floyds gonna sign a contract that guarentees him up to 200 mil but paraphrases that if his fights dont generate x amount of ppvs, his guarentee will be lowed to x amount of money? You must think Floyd is an idiot then.

 

This i agree with. As long as Showtime has approved the opponents hes facing, he'll still get his guarentee

 

Look up the meaning of the word "up to" - you just contradicted yourself. What does "guarantees him UP TO $200m" mean?

The deal is unknown but it's believed to be a guarantee of $200m over 6 fights but could go above $250m depending on how the fights do commercially

So Mayweather WILL care about PPV but only up to a point - he'll get more if it does well and Showtime want to also protect their investment and ensure those PPVs are maximised , then again as he is guaranteed $200m he is likely to stick to safe and beatable opposition . He won't have to go for a Canelo or Pacquiao type fighter anymore as he's guaranteed to make a certain amount. He also has such a huge ego he feels him alone is enough to sell.

 

Which in essence means nothing. As long as he's not fighting some bum he picked up off the street Showtime will approve. If he says he wants to fight Malignaggi for instance, Showtime will aprove it...
