There are just too many signs. 1) The man is 36 yrs old. That's past prime for many athletes and especially for the light weight class boxers who rely on split second reflexes, and timing. 2) He was very skinny when he came out of jail and atrophied badly. I think that took a toll on his body and he should've taken more time to prepare. 3) We have barely seen any training footage for this fight. In previous fights, we were able to see from the pad work, bag work etc... that he was still pretty sharp and quick. From what few clips I've seen he's slowed down tremendously, and i think this is why there isn't much being released. 4) He's getting busted up in sparring. Yes I know its boxing and all that ****, but for a long time, Floyd wasn't getting marked up and he was fighting world class fighters with 8oz gloves and no head gear. Now all of a sudden he's getting bruised eyes, from sparring with headgear. That's a surefire sign of decline, and I fear like many other ATG'S floyd may be staying too long and about to get upset by a guy who wouldn't be worthy to hold his jock strap in his prime. I hope I'm wrong but I think my dawg has finally become shot to **** and a shell of his former self. He should've hung em up at 43-0.
Duh..He's still an elite boxer, but he's clearly shot. He moves around like his feet are stuck in cement and he rarely fight off his back foot anymore.
Yeah he's past his prime but he still can still compete at a high level. IMO his last prime fight was against JMM ever since then he's looked a step slower.
Not shot. But he's coming to the end of his career now. The Guerrero fight will reveal alot, who knows, we'll have to wait and see.
I think the handspeed has definitely slowed and by a fair amount too. Just from watching him on the speedbag.
Why not. You go from almost untouchable in the ring to getting busted up by sparing partners. That's shot
I hope. I think he still has the ring IQ obviously to compensate for his diminshing athleticism, but I'm worried that he needed more time to get his body in shape after jail.
That's why they didn't make the Pac fight. It was too dangerous. It was a shame though. Pacquaio is done too. Maybe if Guerrero beats Mayweather, they will finally make the Pacquaio vs Mayweather fight. Maybe they will both get up for it and put on the best fight of their life.
He's still the best in the world, but he is that stage of his career where fans can label him as shot prior to every fight, so that when he does lose it's obviously only because he is shot and not because any credit is due to the opponent, and it obviously can't then have any impact on his legacy. Standard defense mechanism of fans of any boxer, from any country, from any background.
He has slowed down tremendously Watching him in the mitts with Roger, bit guys were looking far from their best and the speed that they were working at was below normal Floyd's biggest battle on May 4th isn't Guerrero it's his age.
Mayweather is definitely past his prime. If he loses his unbeaten record, I don't believe it's anything for Mayweather to be embarrassed of at this stage of his career, with all of his 'there's no blueprint' talk. Watch All Access episode 2, even Floyd Sr doesn't make him train as hard as he used to. But nevertheless, MayweatherTKO9Guerrero
