Lomachenko's latest masterpiece

    Just watched the Lomachenko fight.

Great performance, Lomachenko was very measured. However I do feel he could have got away with landing some more power shots, I'm talking Danny Garcia power shots. If this fight was scheduled for 12 rounds, it would have most likely been stopped. Valentino was taking a beating in there, one of the very best amateurs too.

Delighted that Lomachenko was more rigorous this time around as although Selimov's style is difficult for Loma, Loma in this fight showed a more disciplined attitude. You can see watching this fight why Selimov provides Loma problems - Loma was a little too micro in his approach. He kind of needs this style to help him measure up opponents but that privelege is not there against Selimov. I think this is an adjustment that Loma can make once it becomes the centre for his attention.

As for Usyk..I've never seen him fight. Who does he look better than in the pro heavyweight game current/past?

Here he is in the QF shutting out Medzhidov who was the 2011 World Champion at SHW (and beat Joshua) Usyk won Gold at at 200lbs. He fought Joyce too this season. I really can't think of a comparison, no one's like him, maybe a 1960's Ali/Sultan Ibragimov hybrid?

Here's Usyk last 2 matches in the WSB, one against a former world amatuer champion, the last against a guy that has fought in the pro ranks and built up a 12-0 record. Both outweighed him by a lot.

As you can see he has exceptional footwork, very fast hands and feet for his size. Defence is great, can slip shots as well as anyone. Offensively the left hand is a great weapon, very accurate and with respectable power behind it. He's a talent to watch if he goes pro and has the tools to go a long way

Judge for yourself, here Usyk is fighting a guy who won the super heavy worlds by beating up and rocking the 2012 gold medallist Anthony Joshua. Amazing mobility and skills for a guy his size. His counter punching and defence is incredible, I can't really compare him to anyone.

Here is Usyk's last fight against a 13-0 professional who is 6'6 and weighs 270 pounds.

    :thumbsup

I was doubting this myself for a while, to the extent that I thought Donaire would KO Rigo. And Rigo has been my favourite boxer for around ten years.

Come on Loma, to the official pro ranks already!

He could start with 8 rounders and local titles here.

the biggest disappointment for me has been Gvozdyk, i know his opposition has been very tough but he seems to be struggling when everyone was saying before fights he should be dominating them easily!!! he needs to up his work rate a little bit as he seems to give away rounds he should be winning by not throwing enough punches!!!

Yeah Gvozdyk hasn't looked as good in his last two fights but Cheles and Benchabla are both very good, both are very familiar with him and Gvozdyk injured his left arm in the Sabacius fight before Cheles. Solonenko/Lapin aren't any good so with the lack of depth at LHW and Poyatsyka having been missing perhaps he's been pressured to fight but isnt 100%
 Mundugo is actually the Italian HW Champion in the pros.

Agreed. Gvozdyk seemed to have lost a step or just fights too often. His timing is off (maybe still bothering with the injury)

He looked brilliant in his first 3 fights. Still hope to see him in the final.

Lomachenko. What else is there to say. He way toying with Valentino. I felt sorry for the kid at some point  Loma was turning him when he wanted to.

All respect to Arkhypenko. His first win in WSB and the most significant for the whole team this season.

He got robbed against Mudugno in spite of giving up over 6 inches and 60lbs and i gave him 2 rounds against Hrgovic in a competitive fight so seeing him pull off such a big win was great especially the way Vasyl and Usyk were going crazy for him. Rostyslav would be slightly undersized even for CW.

agreed for me Arkhypenko was the star performer of the night even though all the lads pulled through but he had the most pressure on him and delivered, i was hoping the judges werent going to rob him at home, very pleased when he was announced the winner and you could see how happy everyone was for him and to go through as well!!!!

On the Gvozdyk part i hope he over comes the injury coz he is a joy to watch when fully fit!!!!
