Slappy Joe Calzaghe's "win" over Hopkins

    Sad that this is his best win considering Hopkins was 43. Sure Hopkins would go on to win more big fights BUT he was still 43 and past his prime. Yet he was able to drop Calslappy (Hopkins not a big KO artist at this time)

    And the scorecards were very close.

    ESPN,Yahoo,Associated Press,Freddie Roach,Mike Tyson and Carl Froch all went on record saying Hopkins won the fight.



    If Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr were in there prime and fought Calzaghe in his prime, Hopkins and Jones would have stopped him within a few rounds, no decisions needed. 100% Guranteed.

    Well I bring it up because people bring up Calslappy too often. Saying he wound beat this guy or that guy but no. Calslappy couldnt beat a 43 year old so how would he even be competitive with Ward or Froch?

    He wouldnt. He's terrible.

    Old-man-Hopkins' resume shits all over prime-Hopkins one. Old-man Hopkins was still an elite fighter, was in the top 5 P4P list when he fought Calzaghe, would go on to dominate the Light Heavyweight division for the next three years.

    Given those facts, why the hell should it be surprising that the still elite level Hopkins was able to have a very close fight against the also elite level Calzaghe?

    As for people going on record to say who won, Emanuel Steward is on record as saying Hopkins won the first four but Calzaghe was on top thereafter and was a deserving winner, so, frankly, opinions on who won still, and always have, varied.

    Fight should've ended with a double DQ for them both being miserable ****s.

    Why this awful fight is so widely discussed is beyond me.
