ROUNDS Canelo rounds: 2,5,7,9,11 Trout rounds: 1,3,4,6,8,10,12 Round 7 was 10-8 for Canelo and round 11 could also be a draw in my cards. Lots of close rounds but i think Trout edged it. I dont like the open scoring since we see rounds like the last round.
1. Even 10-10 2. Canelo 10-9 3. Trout 10-9 4. Trout 10-9 5. Trout 10-9 6. Trout 10-9 7. Canelo 10-8 8. Trout 10-9 9. Even 10-10 10. Trout 10-9 11. Canelo 10-9 12. Trout 10-9 116 - 113 Trout damn hard to score though, given the divided opinions today perhaps a draw would have been a fair result?
Nice scorecard, i felt despite the rounds being close that i was being kind when awarding rounds to Canelo. I disagree with what you are saying about the 10-8 round though, i agree that Trout got the better of it but not to that extent that the round is a 10-9, Canelo was still landing some meaty shots, to overturn that 2 point deficit i feel a fighter must really dominate in a way trout didnt quite do, he done well enough for me to question it though. Last round Canelo landed a few nice shots on the backfoot but spent the entire round backpedeling with no ring generalship, Trout was the boss that round and was initiating all the action, not really debatable. Overall Canelo done some nice work in the fight but i didnt feel as if there was enough of it to get a decision on my card. Its not so difficult to land 4-5 flashy punches a round if you spend the majority of said round covering up and waiting for the perfect opportunity, with that kind of low activity Trout was always going to struggle to decipher exactly when Alvarez was going to open up. People have also touched upon effective aggression and Trout's gameplan to keep an active jab in the face of Canelo was fantastic at times, for me it shut down Alvarez's offense for long periods of the matchup as he was so preoccupied with not getting hit with the jab. Although some combinations were sloppy from Trout it took the 4-5 punch combos to actually land on Alvarez at times such was Canelo's nature in this fight to shell up and explode in little 10 - 15 second spurts. People can pan Trout all they want for his activity and high workrate, if a fighter is shelling up in front of him and not giving him much to work with the easiest way to get punches through is to overload that shell with punches in bunches. If he had continued to follow plan A and box with Canelo from the outset in a slow paced chess match he would have found himself getting tagged more and more as the fight progressed. By upping his workrate he was able to negate Canelo's advantage in accuracy, timing and power, we all saw what happened when he threw out a single lazy jab and got tagged with a vicious straight right counter, that may have happened more without his the change of plan. I think the wrong fighter lost but it was close with plenty of shifts in momentum, well at least on my card.
Trout Canelo Canelo Trout Trout Trout Canelo Trout Canelo Trout Canelo Trout Trout 114-113 Could have been either way. I was more focused on enjoying the fight than scoring.
I dont know how good my card is because I was drinking and trying to score with friends over both of which would be a distraction I had it 115-112 Trout but im gonna rewatch it when it gets put on on demand in a few days I felt Canelo did not do enough per round, he would land a massive uppercut or right hand but then spend large stretches not doing anything I will say Canelo would move his head a lot and many of Trouts blows missed very impressed with how well he made Trout miss to the point he was toying with him
In my eyes most of what Canelo landed were damaging punches. I don't think you can say the same for Trout. On top of it all Canelo showed some good defensive skills that many people overlooked coming into the fight.

This is my live scorecard. I do want to score it again today, but this was my card. 1. even 10-10 2. Canelo 10-9 3. Canelo 10-9 4. Trout 10-9 5. Trout 10-9 6. Trout 10-9 7. Canelo 10-8 8. Trout 10-9 9. Trout 10-9 10. Trout 10-9 11. Canelo 10-9 12. Trout 10-9 115-113 for Trout Update: Upon scoring this fight a second time, I scored it 115-112 in favor of Canelo Alvarez. I was very tired and to be honest, pretty high when I scored it live. Either way, I am a ery good judge and have to deal with the fact that I got it wrong when I scored it live. Canelo won.
