Open Scoring

i get what you're saying, but there's plenty of action fights without open scoring. and it's like, why should you need a judge to tell you to step it up, you know? even if you lose a questionable decision, but you fight your fight, like I think that's better then having the judges scores determine how you fight. not knowing the judges score is part of the charm of boxing. like you know you have those moments where both guys raise their hands as if they won. well in this fight Trout knew he lost. and this was a fight where the press scoring had the fight basically even. if there wasn't open scoring, Trout might have thought he actually won the decision and then called robbery. but since he knew the actual score *during the fight*, he pretty much knew he had no chance of winning a decision after the 8th round, really after the knockdown, because he knew he was down after the 4th. by the time the decision was announced, it was a foregone conclusion, Canelo already was wearing the belt before the decision was announced.

Open scoring would only be good if you only told the fighter that was behind on the cards. But that would be fair now would it? Not fan of it. It gives a fighter zero incentive to take a risk. It's always fun to see a fighter blunder away a lead cause he sucks at math.

It's a sport isn't it? When you're behind on the scorecards/scoreboard you have to change tactics. It makes fights more dynamic and helps to eliminate fights where two guys stick to their style for all 12 rounds and then maintain that they won. It means fighters need to be more well rounded and be able to adjust and fight in different styles, that can only make fighters better as a whole. I think the scores should be shown every round. The WSB competition does it very well and judges are held more accountable because if it's an obvious round and the judge goes against the better fighter it's obvious. Every 4 rounds open scoring just leaves you questioning what round was scored in what way and isn't really any better than finding out after 12.
There is more drama to an event when you know for a fact going into the last round that the winner of the round wins the fight. This every 4 rounds thing is half assed and pointless, round by round open scoring should be in every fight. Time for boxing to move towards being a professional sport.

 

And the person behind will take more risks and look for the knockout so it evens out, decisions would be less likely if anything.

 

I thought it took alot of the drama out of the fight... and killed the potential for a great final round (or two) because Canelo knew it was in the bag as long as he finished on his feet.

How does it hold the judges accountable anyway???

So we see their bull**** scores (ie, Chistaoulou last night) during, instead of after the fight... Big deal, that dosen't change a damm thing.

I don't see the point of this open scoring B.S.... GET RID OF IT!
