There are a few decent points here, but some of this is just dumb. Jesus Chavez is a good win but Genaro is average? You can name 100 fighters better than Floyd Mayweather? Either way, show me anyone's your top ten ATG list and I will show you how each one of them they had a half dozen or so "good wins" maybe a two or three "great wins" and the rest of their resume is filler (A few pre 60s fighters being the exception, notably Sugar Ray Robinson). Would you rather Floyd didn't fight these meaningless fights? Is it cherry picking when you know your going to make a crapload of money (like Gatti). Is it ducking when you can't get the terms right (like Pacquaio)? Mayweather's resume is not without holes, but If you hold the standard that every champion should fight anyone who wants to fight him at any time everyone fails. Be reasonable. To the OP's question. 154 is Mayweather's worst weight but he will smoke Canelo. Smoke him. Canelo will win 2 rounds max and will be punished the entire fight, especially after round 2 when Floyd realizes that Canelo is so slow that he can step into his punches and still slip the counter. I think we will see this fight, possibly next Cinco de Mayo weekend. I would offer 4 to 1 odds right now for anyone who really thinks Canelo wins. You may want to wait on those odds though, Vegas will be more generous.
Do you know how much Canelo weighed in the ring? He doesn't seem to be a Chavez type who puts on 25 lbs after the weigh-in. I agree that we should return to same day weigh-ins but let's not act like Canelo is bigger than Oscar whom Floyd fought. If the commission didn't allow that, Floyd wouldn't be the big star he is today. Canelo doesn't even look that much bigger than Mosley. Floyd vs Canelo is not David vs Goliath, get real.
There is no way the commision should allow 2 fighters in the same weight division to fight each other.
Floyd at 150 on fight night would be a junior middleweight. Canelo at 172 on fight night would be a light heavyweight, so basically hed be 3 divisions heavier than Floyd
Wow some of you *****s are even contradicting each other you don't know what you sayin. First, Floyd is too good for Canelo and Canelo brings nothing to table when he just finished beating a poor man's version of Floyd and almost knocking him out. Then others are saying Canelo too big when at the sametime Floyd already fought Oscar and Cotto there at 154. Just like *******s and *****s to bring out the excuses once again once they see a real threat to their beloved fighters. No more padded fighters and now that he wants Floyd now *****s sayin he's too big or too green. Makeup your mind. Floyd foghts close to shot Oscar and Cotto at 154 yet no Canelo or Trout. Floyd knows what up.
he made the weight, i dont see the problem :huh there isnt any bans on rehydration yet. Floyd is the 154 champ, and so is canelo. If he keeps the title he should fight canelo. Pacquiao vacated the title after winning it.
He won't have a problem saying it to your face because you would need testing before you can do anything.
Oh shut the hell up. Some people literally just found out that boxers re-hydrate a good % of their body mass between weigh ins and fights. It's ****ing unbelievable. That is why there are divisions, my friend. And a whole lot more of them than there used to be. You don't want to fight a guy who struggled a little and sucked down a bunch of weight and puts it back on over night? Then go down a division and struggle a little to suck extra weight down yourself if you want and if it's so easy and if that's where you belong.
Because Sergio is with HBO and publicly stated that he will not fight any Golden Boy Promotions fighters after HBO announced they would no longer work with them. So, until Sergio breaks or finishes his HBO contract, Sergio has said it is not possible.
So, who gives a ****? As long as they make the weight that is all that matters. Until rules change back to same day weigh ins there is nothing that can be done about it. Look at how Chavez Jr outweighs his opponents on fight night and the *****s weren't saying ****. Now that they see Canelo as a threat to their hero, they are concerned about fight night weights.
