Wlad has a really strong resume and I was just talking about guys like Tyson and Vitali who have weaker ones but can be considered better H2H than Wlad.
You are not judging heavyweight resume the right way. . Factors to remember: You must judge heavyweight resume differently from the lower weights because at heavyweight you can't go up or down in 'division's to fight the top guys there. You are stuck in one division and that one division has always had less talent than the more talent rich WW-MW divisions of the past. The correct way to judge a heavyweight resume is to combine all the good-great wins into a deciding grade. What that means is Wladimir never had a 'great win' but what Wlad did have is a bunch of good wins. Ruslan,Sultan,Haye,Byrd.. etc are all 'good' wins. Lewis had a lot of good to VERY GOOD wins. Ruddock,Tua,Vitali,Tucker,Golota,Mercer, etc... Holyfield was still an elite fighter at the time Lewis fought him. What's impressive is not that Lewis beat Holyfield..... what's impressive is that Lewis dominated 10 of 12 rounds and overall 17 of 24 total in those 2 fights.. To say Holyfield was no longer 'elite' is absurd and clueless.. Lewis dominated an elite level fighter and it is what it is. Lewis beat Prime Vitali despite being overweight and un motivated .He blocked punches with his face.. and was still looking like the stronger man in the 6th. This win is tricky. If the fight had continued for another 2 rounds.. this would have been an ATG GREAT win for Lewis because he would have stopped Vitali on his feet.. Still taking into consideration Lewis's condition, age, and preparation +the fact he looked stronger of the two in the latter rounds.. this is a great win. Overall yes.. Wladimir do not have any great wins but what he do have is multiple good wins. Lewis at best only had 1-2 great wins.but what he does have is a resume chalked full of good/very good wins. You add those up and Wlad-Lewis are ATG'S. Top 11 and top 5-7 Heavyweights. Tyson have the exact same effect as well. Look at his resume... if you say there are no good wins.. you don't know much about heavyweights. Tyson had a bunch of good wins as well.. the DIFFERENCE in that he went about his wins in a more lethal and brutal+impressive fashion than Wlad did... Also he did not get stopped 3 times during his physical prime. Overall: Lewis 6 Tyson 10 Wladimir 11 I do expect Wlad to overtake Tyson in the very near future. but the possibility of him being knocked out again is also likely..... so it's a coin flip. H2H. Tier 1 Ali Tier 2 Lewis Tyson Tier 3 Wladimir Vitali Joe.L Holmes Holyfield Peak Bowe(Yes.. that one fight version of Bowe can beat almost anyone) Foreman Liston but h2h is subjective and any one of the tier 3's being put at tier 2 is fine.
Allow me to help him out here: The Top 7 Head to Head fighters at Heavyweight are, in no particular order: 1. Louis 2. Ali 3. Holmes 4. Tyson 5. Lewis 6. W. Klitschko 7. V. Klitschko I base my opinion on these choices on the very best versions of each fighter and I left out the old timers like Sullivan, Corbett, etc. since the rules were too different back then. On a given night any one of these fighters could defeat any of the others, such is the nature of boxing.
Hard to say. I think the fighters from Tyson's era were better than the guys Vlad fought. Bonecrusher,Thomas,Tucker,Biggs in one year.
