Howard Cosell thought Young won Ali fight

He did say that, I feel that way too. Cosell may have just said that to be objective

 

Young scored more punches than Ali.

 

He's certainly not alone I scored that fight heavily in favour of Young, those who know however know Young's true resume is 56-0.

 

Cosell was always honest.

 

So many viewers thought Young won that NBC switchboard was overloaded by amount of people who called to complain about decision. Young won.

 

Very messy fight. Muhammad was indeed very lucky getting the nod in this one. And I'm saying this as an all out Ali fan. Last time I watched it,I made it a draw. If Jimmy had n't received a standing count from sticking his head out of the ring,I'd have given it to him by one point.

 

Has there ever been a fight which produced such a wide range of different scorecards as this one? The Associated Press had it for Young, 69-66. The United Press had it for Ali, 75-67. Crazy.

Young was not agresive enough 2 win 1 fight similar to this .

Same story w/ Young , Not enough solid punches , too much "defense" aka ,

I thought Young won comfortably.

 

I still don't know how Ali walked away with the victory i wonder how Youngs career woulda gone with that win.

 

There would have been a rematch by around September of that year. A better conditioned Ali would have had enough left to score a close but uncontroversial win. Or should I say LESS controversial win ?

 

I have the tape of "Ali-Young" on file here, but I still score for Ali by a **** hair after each viewing....... Young was too passive, defensive and stinky to swing the judges in his favor.... Ali carried the actual fight to his challenger.... Ali gets my vote back in '76.....
