Macklin v barker today

  1. I know we have heard it all before but if mack were to beat golovkin then wouldnt a great first defence be a homecoming against long term rival darren barker.

They have both matured and gone up a level since they were mooted to meet

    Who do you fancy?

I reckon it would be a cracking fight

I have always fancied Barker to have his number but I am pretty biased towards him. Met him a few times and even played football against him. And I don't really like Macklin. Plus the whole Irish v British thing that happened on this forum from a few years back. Would really want Barker to win.

But I think style wise the fight favors Barker. It's not like Macklin is a concussive punching, huge middleweight.

I am afraid I think if they ever do fight it will come down to who has most left in them. Barker has had so many injurys and Macklins had some tough fights.

  4. I'm surprised people favour barker,he has through most of his carear looked good against a lower level of opponent than what macklin has faced.definitely the last few years

Against Martinez barkers tactics totally negated his stylish snappy boxing,we know why he did it but the fact is i think he would be uncharacteristically negative again in a big fight and macklin would outwork and outhustle him for a relatively easy decision or late tko

    Macklin is underrated by brits

I think Macklin would stop Barker, but I would fancy Barker to outpoint Lee. Saying that, none of these fights will happen anyway.

Lee doesn't seem to fancy it. Called out Barker then turned the fight down.

I think we see one off Macklin v Barker v Murray v Lee happen this year.

  7. Did Lee turn the fight down

Real shame for both I'd he did

It would be a way of barker gaining some
Recognition in the USA,where he is almost unheard of despite fighting a pound for
    Pounder over there

I think Hearn struggles to match barker at the level they are aiming for

    It is highly doubtful.
Macklin-Golovkin, Murray-Martinez and Barker-Chavez Jr. Lee was poor against Fitzgerald, he has only just hooked up with Booth so it remains to be seen what his planned route back to a title shot might be?

Macklin for me. I think he can mix it up tactically to pinch enough rounds in a very competitive fight.

Disagree with this. I think Macklin is rated where he should be, it's just that Macklin rates himself above anyone in the World, ever.

That said, I do think it depends on who can impose their style. Barker has looked aggressive lately but this wouldn't favour him against Macklin. If Barker used his brain and skills, I think he would come back from an early round deficite to win a close decision or even a late stoppage.

Barker on points against Macklin can't see it happening for a couple of reasons.

If Macklin were to upset GG which i can't see happening the chances of the fight happening become even more remote. He would make a first defence in the USA $ talks.

Don't think Macklin is underrated by anyone you know you will get a tough fight against him.
