Why do people think they do? Take fury for example that USS shot caught him of balance but was thrown with bad intentions from a 210 pound man, but, he got up with a bounce in his step and he was not shaken, because his jaw is fine he just has **** balance, same goes for pakjic fight. Mayweather was kd vs Judah does he have a glass jaw? Its true that some fighters can't hold a clean shot, but these people are not the ones that get up clear headed they are the ones who go jelly legged there is a big difference. I'm sure most of you guys on here understand this but I feel it has to be spelt out for some e.g gen forum.
sweeping generalisation. some knockdowns are due to a fighter being off balance or leaving yourself wide open for a massive shot. Mayweather also wasn't knocked down v Judah.
OP - You are of course correct, however you are going up against the simpleton thinking that plagues probably 90% of the population, it goes something like this. "Fighters with glass jaws get knocked down, therefore fighters who get knocked down must have glass jaws." Simpleton logic, and you see it everywhere. Another example from a ******ed sky football victim: "We need to spend BIG money ie £40m on a real marquee signing to show our ambition and take the club to the next level etc" This is of course based on the logic that if you wanted to buy any top top player, (messi, ronaldo etc.) they'd cost in excess of £40m. What ******ed sky football fan fails to grasp however is that spending HUGE money does not mean the player you purchase is automatically a top player. (see andy carroll)
Not all knockdowns are because of punch resistance but some are Fury's was 50/50 he was basically squared up and it was a good punch and his chin isnt amazing Mayweather's was 100% off balance Trout's vs Alvarez was 100% chin Depends on the person, punch, where they are standing and how they fall etc Fury's one was not off balance he was squared up thats not off balance
Glove touched died it not because he was off balance. Truth is all knock downs are different but some believe the OK only reason you go down is your jaw when its just plain physics, weight with force behind it will move an object weather you go down depends on the variables.
I am grouping off balance with squared up I know the difference but can't be added to mention every category which involve your foot position, weight placement etc
Perfect example is the first PAC vs Marquez fight first rd. Does Marquez have a **** chin no it just annoys me that some people use a knockdown as proof of poor punch resistance.
Fury was routinely wobbled by an old cruiserweight who can't punch. He has no chin. None. Wlad would end him with a jab.
Did anyone else think "he's not getting up from that" when fury got knocked down? Was an absolute peach of a shot. Of all the defensive flaws fury showed on Saturday his chin was the only one which stood up. He didn't even look shaky after it. I was expecting jelly legs.
Isn't a glass jaw when u get knocked down an cant get up or when u wobble for not so hard shots, I have been caught an seen flashes but they go more or less straight away, I been down once when was 18 I was lightweight against a welter but that's learning I remember I was down at weight right before a fight ha,
