Will Sonnen get at least one takedown vs Jones, or not?

It's hard to imagine a fresh Chael Sonnen not being able to take anyone down at least once, but Jones is taller, rangier and will not be worried about Chael's striking so he will be able to focus on avoiding the TD.

Jones has fought good wrestlers in Hamill and Bader, but do those guys really have the aggressive shot that Chael has? I'm not sure.

I do know this, when Jones gets on top of Sonnen, the elbows will start raining down and Sonnen will be murdered. His defensive guard is not good enough to stop or control Jones.

Hard to disagree, although it may happen last minute of the 1st rd.

Sonnen will not be able to take Jones down and he will be stuffed after 3 or 4 attempts at it...... It will then just be a matter of time.

 

I hope jones overlooks him. If he's not on top form chael could make things very interesting, jones isn't a jiu jitsu guy and his guards certainly his weak point.

 

It's a TOTAL mismatch unfortunately. I like both guys, probably my 2 favorites to watch but Chael's only chance is takedowns and ground control. He cant stand with Jones and has no submissions. Its going to be over quick

 

If Sonnen bum rushes him and catches him / drops him / hurts like he did Silva in the first fight , I could see him having some success . This is where I think Jones is vulnerable anyway ( on his feet ) . But you cant stand around and wait on him .

Other then that he's gonna get destroyed.

 

Looks like a huge advantage to me :!: Even the way their feet are placed with sonnen slightly behind Jones and Jones with a wider stance, Jones is still considerably taller and longer than Sonnen even with the camera angle tricks. Jones is a monster for light heavy, Sonnen is a baby.

I guess the fight will determine who's right after all.

 

Worst thing that happened for Chael is Jones getting caught in that arm bar by Vitor, I don't think he'll ever overlook anyone ever again. Jones weak point is his guard? What evidence are you basing that on exactly?

 

Horse****. Sonnen has been an averaged size LHW fighting at MW for years. According to Mike Dolce, he rehydrated to 218 for his second fight against Silva. He's going to be even bigger now that he doesn't have to go down to 185.

It's mind-boggling that so many people are incapable of distinguishing between physical dimensions and actual mass. Jones is taller and longer than Sonnen, but Sonnen clearly has a much thicker frame with larger shoulders, chest and legs than Jones.
