Thanks for giving credit. :good For someone who talked so much about Canelo being scared of trout and never in a million years would GBP make the fight.. its nice to see people put in place and return with praise.

Always was a fan, but expected him to fight at this level 2-3 yrs from now he's 22 now, tho green he is not. Like SalvadorSanchez and Marco Antonio Barrera before him, Canelo adopted a counterpunching style and turned out to be great at it. Trout was certainly elite at jr middle whether you think he was overrated or not he's a big jr middle with a difficult style many thought beat Cotto more convincingly than Floyd did. Some even claimed he would be just as difficult or moreso than Floyd to beat. I used to hold higher regard for Broner for beating a decent opponent like Demarco, but Trout is a much better win. Canelo is definitely an elite fighter after beating Trout and should be above Broner as the best young champion.

The fact that he is only 22 and fighting the way he does is very impressive. He seems disciplined and very intelligent in the ring.

I underestimated him because of his previous opposition, but he showed me stuff I didn't know he had. He's still got his flaws and stamina issues, but I think it'll be a while before he's beat unless he faces Floyd. As long as he doesn't go back to fighting 140lb fighters he'll have me tune in to each fight!

The thing about Canelo that impressed me, is that he is multi dimensional. I knew he was a boxer-puncher, but he can box, press, and counter.

He is only 22 year old! He is coming along great for his age.

In about a year or two, I expect him to be one of the best P4P fighters if not the best if they continue to develop him intelligently.

What impressed me the most was his headmovement, he was good.

What could be troublesome for him is his stamina.. he looked winded in there, but after the fight it looked like he had gone a 4-6 round fight and not gotten hit at all.

Impressed by him, to say the least.

lol looks like this guy started watching boxing in 2010.

On the topic, he earned my respect by demanding the fight to prove himself

he did good, better than most expected and i respect him but when some of his fans open their mouth, it makes me not like him.

It was a good win, showed improvement but hardly a performance to tell your grandchildren about. He is not elite yet. That term is thrown so regularly now

How hard could it be for a boxer to improve his stamina? I mean his team obviously knows it's horrible, so how long could it take Alvarez to be capable of fighting full 12 round fights? At least it ain't genetics right? he just need to work hard on it i guess, and the kid seems dedicated so i might be completely wrong, but i think we're overreacting to his stamina issues!

The guy is 22! I was not a cheer squad for either guy going into the fight so I had no bias! Saul's head movement was good but he did not counter. 35 punches a round does not win a fight!
Lets see where he goes from here.

He's 22 years old. How many fighters in recent times can you call elite at the age of 22?

The fact that he is the Top Dog at 154 imo makes him elite. Elite are the best boxing has to offer and he is the best 154 has to offer at the moment.

I fully expect him to be in his physical and mental prime in 2014 or 2015.
