In terms of credit and H2H'ness? Would people have actually given Ray credit for this one, then, and how would it be viewed today from our comfy Iphone setting?

I think it actually depends upon how the fight goes. A very narrow or controversial win would make it his best scalp, yes. A wide victory or a knockout (lolz) would see his best win default to the Keed.

Sceptics say that Burley's reputation was built upon this supposed duck by Robinson. I dispute that but it cannot be argued that his overall brilliance was revealed by the notion. Ironically, if it were unfilmed, a particularly brilliant performance by Robinson would have damaged rather than enhanced his atg status.

I suspect it would have been a dull fight, that Robinson might have shaded based upon the speed of his second punch.

That is a fcking great post and might as well /thread

The thing with outcomes is when fighters make it look so easy it just gets forgotten. Just like when I say if Tyson had to gut it out against Spinks and get the KO late he'd be a lot more revered than the KO1 and the whole "tyson beat nothing but bums" argument :patsch :patsch

Imagine Mosley doesn't land those two right hands in Round 2 against Floyd. The fight would be **** on several times more than it already is.

I think Burley is better and more accomplised than Kid Gavilan, and he's giving up weight, so pretty much yes.

I think Robinson stylistically would be all wrong for Burley too, like Leonard-Benitez or Jones-Toney

He was on the deck too much for such a list, but nobody is knocking that guy out.
