i really don't know. i love boxing so much and i dont really know why. i love boxing and i love watching it. maybe it's the indian blood. the mexican natives were bad ass warriors.
I always figured the Mexicans enjoyed it because of their Aztec blood. Aztecs seemed insane and were a warrior like people, so i'm guessing they've just inherited this thirst for violence? lol Not a racist, just giving my opinion on why I think Mexicans love to fight.
Aztecs as warriors. :-( Cortés ko1! The answer to the question is that somewhere along the way, Boxing became culturally significant in Mexico. And as the wise man said: "what you practice, you become."
I am guessing it all started with one guy then went from there. It's the same reason the domincan republic produces so many good baseball players. All you need is a few guys to be national heros and make a **** ton of money and in a nation flooded with poverty every kid that doesn't feel like trying his luck in a life of crime will graviate towards that.
Because Mexican fighters give every inch of their body and soul to us in the purest form that a human can demonstate. And thats because of their humble beginnings, pride in being Mexican and honor to fight for our people. Its a part of our history and culture.
a smart person would ask themselves, how can a handful of men with muskets defeat thousands of trained warriors? the obvious answer is, they cant. then if they didnt want to remain ignorant, they would learn, through research, that the spaniards were aided by thousands of warriors from tribes that were tired of paying tribute to the aztecs and believed in all the sunshine the spaniards were blowing up their ass. along with disease the spaniards brought and the fact that the aztecs believed the spaniards to be their god returning like it was foretold in their legends, then it starts to make more sense.
theres a lot of hungry people everywhere. when i was a soldier, we were celebrating some type of hispanic holiday, i dont remember what. the general speaking pointed out that the ratio of decorations awarded for valor with the number of soldiers serving, is dominated by mexican americans. no other group came close. i have huge respect for that because war is where you really see what a man is made of.
You know, one of the great things about boxing is that you can learn a lot about other cultures. I just assumed it was because Mexico is a very poor country.
