He wasn't hit on the chin. he was hit on the back-side of the ear & his eardrum punctured. hat's the only reason he went down.

Good lordy, please pay more attention. :-(

Ain't no cure for a weak chin! Stamina, skills, lack of ring IQ etc can all be improved. Only way to "improve" lack of mandible is by protecting that **** HARD...but this is boxing and you're gonna get tagged at some point...

No, it's much worse to have very low stamina and bad technique. I would also say being mentally weak is worse. You can get by w/o a sturdy chin, though it's a difficult task.

The ultimate weakness for a fighter is to have an incompetent promoter.

    Everything else is secondary.

To me, the biggest weakness to have is slow hands. No ATG fighter has ever been considered truly slow of hand.

You can hide a weak chin with defense.

You can hide poor stamina with a low work rate, or you can train hard to improve your stamina.

You can make up for being completely feather-fisted by having good speed and mobility.

How do you compensate for being slow?

As posters said above.. Boxing is probably the most tiresome sport known to man, and to not have stamina, would certainly be the biggest weakness.

Shadowboxing, punching with resistance bands and/or weights, push-ups

There are a variety of ways to increase hand speed.

Roy was never great at taking a punch, but he also was not as weak chinned as he got later in his day...

But this is a perfect example of a fighter that can be good enough to win belts in 4 weights, without a great chin.

That's like saying you can hit the heavy bag to increase your power. Sure you can, but there is a limit to how much you can improve in that area. Speed and power and primarily genetic factors.

If you're slow, you're slow. And if you hit like Sven Ottke, well... you'd still be able to make Paulie Malignaggi jealous.
