I could just imagine the insanity......Golden boy all over his nutts....the difference being Sergio is certifiably great and needs no protection and would actually merit any and all hysteria and hype.

Im such a fan of Martinez I wish in my heart he were Mexican so he could get the adulation fame and notoriety that he really deserves not to mention the huge paydays that a fighter of this magnitude deserves.

The man in reality is slipping under the radar screen and even though he is a star he actually deserves greater coverage hype and hysteria.....of the DLH variety, unfortunately he is from Argentina and had to slip in the back door.

If he were Mexican, Top Rank would of picked him up when they had the opportunity. If it weren't TR, GBP would of picked him up. Afterall, he only had one loss that was early in his career by the time when he started to make a name for himself on HBO. Televisa and TV Azteca would of been fighting for his rights, just like Televisa has Canelo and TV Azteca has Chavez Jr. He would of been promoted as the next ODLH based on looks. Woulda, coulda, shoulda...he is from Argentina and I'm sure he is proud of it. It sucks that nationality has to matter in order for promoters to take you serious.

I respect Martinez, hell of a fighter, hell of a person. His fights though, honestly don't interest me all that much, and generally I don't find him interesting.

I would say if he were Mexican, he would have reached the level of all the other Mexican fighters. They all get taken care of financially and in the media from what I can see.

    Jmm
    Morales
    Canelo
    Martinez*
    Jr
    Margarito

yup...he would have fit right in with them and made even more millions. lol

It is poor that US promoters make decisions based on US-fan base or proximity to it. Martinez needs to fight a floyd, a ward, or a canelo to make the big $$$. Ward is too big I think, floyd don't have the confidence to, and canelo is oscars golden goose, so that won't happen.

    It doesn't matter.

Charisma and star power is like one punch KO power. Either you have it or not.

He can be Mexican but if he doesn't stir any promoter's interest, they would ignore him. Look at how long Marquez toiled in the shadows of Moreles and Barrera.

He probably would have been on Saved by the bell or something and would have never needed to box.
