What about it?:huh It was a Welterweight fight. No rehydration clause, no catch weight...Just two men who agreed to fight at a weight no greater than 147 at WEIGH IN....NOT the day of the fight. DLH was supremely confident facing a man coming up not one but TWO weight classes and he was already planning a Floyd rematch at 147...preparing by facing Forbes at a catch weight of 151. Floyd retired and PAC was approached.

DLH didn't put on much weight after weigh in and came in at 147 but that was simply because DLH had been on weight for the last part of his camp...weight was a non issue for the first time in DLH's career but ultimately it hurt him in the fight. There's no athletic commission who would ever agree to enforcing or allowing a rehydration clause for a professionally sanctioned fight. There's a reason fighters weigh in 24 hours in advance....it's to rehydrate.

Yeah, I looked it up just now and I guess I misremembered. I thought Oscar agreed to pay a certain amount of money per pound that he was over 147 ON FIGHT NIGHT. But apparently that wasn't true, Roach just wanted him at 147 at the official weigh in the night before. Sorry, not sure where I got that lol

 

Watch out they banned me for two weeks for saying Pacquiao fought catchweight fights.

 

You make zero sense. Alv and Rios both "drain" to 140 pounds every fight. If the fight is held at a catchweight above 140, then they'll have a few extra pounds less to drain. It actually makes the weight thing easier on them.

It is a *******ization of the term catchweight to set a weight limit between divisions agreed upon by both parties and call it catchweights.

Catchweights means either fighter comes in at whatever weight he sees fit -- you might get LaMotta at 160-plus against Ray Robinson at 144.

 

Doesn't work that way, even when guys drain when they move up they don't dominate because their size advantage is gone look at Victor Ortiz by your logic he would dominate at 147 but you know how that goes.

 

Pacquiao can do whatever he wants this days. Its not like he still has to prove something.
