Here's my Judah - Garcia card after rewatching the fight.

Yeah I had Judah winning the 7th as well. And I thought Zab came out and continued the momentum to start the 8th and was winning the round until the knockdown sequence.

The 11th is where we differ, and I can see where you are coming from there, I could see having Danny slightly up in that round when time was called with 43 seconds left to tie Zab's shoe. Swift did land in the first two minutes, but Zab was too. But I thought Zab brought the crowd out of their seats in those final 40 seconds, and that hard right hand body shot followed up by ruthless aggression by Zab might have stole that round. In the 12th, both were landing but I thought Zab was a little wild and not landing that many clean shots and got caught at the end of the round. I was on the fence as to score that round 10-10 but I gave it to Zab by a hair.

 

Just rewatched rounds 1 and 2.

Round 1: as the showtime commentator said "a close opening round". Zab Judah came out peppering Garcia with the jab, Zab landed a few jabs, and a nice right hand to the body. Garcia missed a lot of punches, but also landed a few right hands. Garcia's best punch was at the 1:30 mark. Garcia did land a nice right hand to the body towards the end of the round. I thought it was 10-10 because of the amount of times Zab made Danny miss completely and Zab's concerted effort to establish the jab and work off of it.

The Round 1 showtime punch stats were:
Judah : 8 / 42
Garcia : 8 / 41

How is a 10-10 round mind boggling with those punch stats?

Round 2: Danny landed the harder punches, this round, but Zab was again peppering Danny with the right hand jab. Zab landed a nice left hand to the body as well as another nice left hand upstairs. Not huge punches, but clean as a whistle. Zab also landed two nice one-twos through the rest of the round, and remaind active with the jab in between those shots. Man this is a back and forth round. a great round. Danny landed some good right hands in this round too, but Zab finished the round strong with a great left hand hook to the body.

At the end of the 2nd round, Malignaggi states "oh there's a shot by Zab Judah...clean best punch of the fight so far for Zab Judah".

Danny landed more punches in that round but both fighters threw significantly more punches then the first round and I thought the quality of Zab's punches were enough, not to win the round, but to make it 10-10.

I have no problem with round 2 going to Garcia. He did land more. Round 7 is definetly a candidate for a 10-10 round, that's probably the right score, but I justified giving the 7th to Zab since I thought Zab was winning the first half of the 8th before he was knocked down, and that was a 2 point round for Danny.

I try to really look at the details and balance it out in a reasonable way. you have Garcia up 1 pt after 3 rounds, while I had it even after 3. that's in the same ballpark really. those who gave Danny rounds 1, 2, and 3 had Danny up by 3 points after 3 rounds. (huge difference) I think it's an important distinction, because if you look at the first 3 rounds, Zab was hanging in there landing some punches, blocking some of Danny's, making Danny miss wildly by moving out of the way. it was not as if Danny was dominating Zab in the first 3 rounds. Danny up 1 pt after 3 rounds seems reasonable.

 

am i correct to guess that you gave the 10th to Zab and were unsure about the 11th and 12th? lets take a look at the punch stat #s for the final 3 rounds:

Judah 21/48 44% (11/32 jabs)
Garcia 5/46 11% (0/21 jabs)

11th
Judah 14/39 36% (6/28 jabs)
Garcia 15/57 26% (2/29 jabs)

12th
Judah 17/40 42% (4/22 jabs)
Garcia 16/57 28% (0/11 jabs)

When scoring the 11th and 12th, and really it depends what you are looking for, Judah was landing better in those rounds. There was also a massive headbutt in the 12th that gave both guys a headache.

Zab's highest percentage rounds (landed vs thrown) and were rounds 7, 10, 11, and 12. (these rounds were also the rounds where Zab landed the most punches) These just happened to be the only rounds in the fight that I gave Zab a 10-9 round.

 

Well technically you are right, but consider this. remember last week when people were arguging that the round that Trout got knocked down by Canelo was actually a 10-9 round and not a 10-8 round? (since Trout did some good work in the remainder of the round)

Well Zab Judah was winning the 8th round for the first one and a half minutes before he got dropped. (arguably better then Trout did when he got up off the canvas against Canelo) Judah was "going for it", he was pushing the pace and that aggression resulted in being knocked down. To be clear, I thought Zab Judah actually won the 7th round 10-9, but it was one of those rounds that was really really close. I gave it to Zab, but that could have also been a 10-10. So I didn't score the 7th to Zab because of what he did in the 8th, but I felt better about it considering I gave Danny a 10-8 round in the 8th, in a round that Zab won the first half of the round. Does that make any sense?:thumbsup
