Was a roided Peterson responsible for Khan's downfall from his peak? I remember Pederson claiming that Khan would never be the same as a fighter after his victory.
I agree with what someone posted earlier on one of the other threads. I think he's got himself stuck in a certain style under Roach and now can't change it. Freddie is all attack, attack, attack. That suits Amir's mindset perfectly. Virgil is a different style all together and it's clear it doesn't suit Amir at all. I don't think it was one specific fight that's changed him for the worse. He's just set in his ways and likely can't/won't change and slowly by slowly other fighters have worked him out.
hardly ****ing billy collins jr ffs get a ****ing grip man, his fans make up more excuses than khan himself
Khan isn't all that different now than he was in his "peak", whenever that was. Khan looks poor against tough, intelligent boxers who can negate his speed and counter him or guys who can just walk through his punches and land their own much heavier shots. That's why he looks like a master boxer against Kotelnik but gets levelled by Garcia. It's also why he should never be put in a ring with Marquez or Mayweather.
yeah-Kell Brook with his fitness excuses against Carson Jones and his injury excuses to avoid stepping up at world level
i agree... in round 10 i think he got caught and banged his gloved then decided to clinch... but in round 11 when he got caught with a big shot he decided to trade until julio had him pretty much off his feet this is a perfect example of being caught between 2 styles... he keeps his right hand low even after all those beatings... he is going to get KOd the moment he steps in with a big puncher... before i think beacuser he attacked so much he would mesmerize the opponent and his oppponent would be busy trying to block his punches but now since he's following a different approach he's more open to the big shot than ever
Khan still makes technical errors, the only thing I see Hunter has changed is his mindset, but is that a good thing??? Khan leans away from punches with his hands down, drops his hands when coming into range, skitters around the ring with little control at times, reaches for punches when they just aren't there to be thrown. His mentality is different because now he's more thoughtful of attacking, doesn't get so caught up in the fight, uses the jab a bit more. But like I say, is that a positive thing? In my opinion, had the Khan that fought under Roach beating Maidana, walking through Malignaggi and Judah, fought last night, he would have stopped Diaz. Just a thought.
Forgot just how much Khan turned his back on Maidana in that fight, grounds for a DQ/TKO there if he's refusing to fight. I thought last night Khan could have easily had a couple of points taken away for holding and headlocks, instead the ref was only interested in giving Diaz a ticking off!
The bodyshot in the first round (awesome shot) and the ref saved Khan badly against Khan, might be a different story if they met again.
