What's sly is making up a quote that doesn't exist. I've just googled it and it doesn't come up in any results. Yes, he has made comments on Roach's illness when asked about it, but perhaps we should have a look at what he actually said and the context in which he said them in:

Who are these people who could "relate" to Naz? The most individual fighter in Britain, from a ethnic minority too. I certainly couldn't relate to him. He'd also had 8 world title defences before he went to America "early". He was older and had more world titles fights than Khan when he went there.

Amir Khan "chinless"? Look at round 11 vs Maidana, round 10 vs Diaz; he's taking a shitload of big shots but doesn't go down. He's not chinless; he's just poor defensively.

As for the last paragraph you suggest he needs to be humble in order to get "fans to come back onto his side". Were Eubank or Naz humble? He has just sold out an arena and provided a domestic FOTY. Why would you NOT cheer for him?

The arena wasn't sold out - there were large sections closed off. He wrongly boasted that he'd sold more tickets than Kell Brook in his hometown.

My mates that were there said the arena looked about 80% full. What is the arena's capacity, 10,000? So around 8,000 tickets sold isn't that bad considering they charged double what Brook and Froch have been doing .

Mate Nas was a bellend. 100 times more cocky than Khan, and I'm not sure why he keeps getting a free pass by some of you. From the stories I've heard, guy wasn't the most approachable. I won't talk about Khan and his haters because I've made my thoughts on this very clear plenty of times. That BBC article that was posted is a good read, and all I'll say is that there are double standards with Khan. I've backed this view up with plenty of examples before. You mentioned Hatton. The same guy who talks about himself in the third person and said he was winning the second round against Pac by a country mile? Dead down to earth and 'umble is ricky. Not deluded at all. Top, top lad is Ricky.... Lad. Not hating btw, just stating facts. Perception isn't reality. David Haye spent a whole day meeting and posing with fans for photographs. He didn't have to do that. Khan splits opinion like no other. He only fought Diaz, and yet there were more threads made since last night about Khan than any other fighter, even though we had a bunch of fights last night. Boxing will miss him. The guy is unmissable. His every quote, every move, every punch thrown, every interview is scrutinized to ****. Possibly THEE most talked about fighter in this country. Boxing will miss him.

B) on the 2 fights I have been to see in the UK, I would say the vast majority of Fans in the crowd were white (and there were no other big names on the cards)
C) Apart from David Haye, he is the only other active UK boxer that gets significant coverage (for a boxer) on the news, meaning he's probably the 2nd most mainstream boxer in the UK.

His success in the UK comes down to the below IMO...

He has been in the Olympics
He is clean cut and a good looking guy, so very marketable
He is an exciting fighter


Personally I would say he has a decent mix of Races that support him in the UK. Not like 90% Muslim, but obviously he going to have a higher Asian following.
