My girl Mariana Juarez got knocked out in the action packed first round of her fight against Japan's Riyo Togo.

It was for the vacant WBC 115 pound title.

Entering the fight, Juarez was 36-6-3 with 16 stoppages while Togo was 9-4-1 with 8 stoppages.

Here's the link. The fight starts at 4:50.

And perhaps the thread title was exaggerating. But perhaps not...

    What do you guys think?

that was shocking, i have seen juarez fight alot of times.....that wasnt supposed to happen.... i actually follow womens boxing, but dont tell anyone....great round btw

  4. Pretty good, actually.

Quick stoppage IMO, it was right at the end of the round and she looked ok to at least have the minute to recover.

    Yeah, huge upset.

Dude, I'd love to pick your brain some time about women's boxing.

I really don't follow it at all, but I do read the updates on the news sites and know probably the tiniest bit more than your average boxing fan would.

    I agree.

Real good 2 minutes of action back and forth.

And slightly quick stoppage. She did take 8 seconds to get up and staggered slightly while stepping forward...

Women throwing bombs, gotta love it.

You don't see the KO ratio that Togo has in women's boxing (9 KO's in 10 wins).

I've seen one of the Nava/Torres fights, forget which one. It was a war.

And YES! Juarez and Bopp are my two favs... for obvious reasons.

Bopp is pretty damn good. Very accomplished, as far as female boxing goes.

yeah biggest shock of the night really.
follow female boxing, you do find some real gems in the game, lack of amateur experience and lack of decent quality sparring leads to a sport that is lopsided. only the champions get the support they need...and in that every female boxer i know has won a title...not because they are famous because of the belt but because of the fast turnover rate and the amount of them. my personal fav before her untimely passing was jisselle salandy. 6 world title belts round her waist.....eh??!?!
real depressing, dodgy cheap video but she looked a great talent only 21 and was the best 154 at the time...think she would of got over on holm...who is good but just bland to me personally. it's rare for a female boxer to be a southpaw which give her a fair advantage but a flattered record.

do hate the way some of this girls are treated. alllllllways talk about their looks before their skills. how ridiculous is that.

also the lack of money is awful.
