Silva is the guy who dropped a few 10/8 rounds to Chael. No ****ing way he beats Jones.

Jones didn't even realize that he was fighting with a bone jutting out of his big toe for half a round, so I don't think residual pain from it will be a problem for him months down the track. Clearly he has ultra-focus during his fights - neither the toe injury nor the arm injury vs Vitor stopped him from handing out dominant ass-beatings seemingly without even registering the pain.

There is no indication that Anderson can stop Jones' takedowns, and there is no indication that Jones would be dumb enough to want to stand and trade with the best striker the UFC has ever seen. The most likely scenario is that Jones takes Anderson down and destroys him with elbows while Silva looks for a sub. Why would he try to do anything else?

And saying that Jones will go for "Super safe, workmanlike gay wrestling" - that is your own bias coming through and nothing else. Jones has never shown himself to be a boring safety-first fighter - exactly the opposite in fact. No champion in the UFC launches as many spectacular high-risk attacks as he does, and by his fighting style you would never ID him as a Greg Jackson guy unless you knew it ahead of time. :bart

Jones best quality is that he brings a different game plan to every fight and just follows it as if the other guy isn't even there. I really don't know how you train to beat him as you never know what you will be facing in teh cage, he's a shape shifter. Also, Jones is pro active not reactive, I really don't see Silvas mesmerising feints and traps he sets by leaving holes working against Jones. Truth is I have no idea how Jones will fight against him but he always just does his thing whatever the other guy brings even with a torn bicep or broken big toe.

Dude, how many times do you have to be wrong about everything before you just listen? :!: Who said Sonnen was going to get opened up by Jones on the ground and expressed that Sonnen is an inferior wrestler to what he'd already faced? :) Been calling this **** with some success for a while now, and I've been a fan of Jones' since the first time I saw him fight in the UFC.

I'm not saying Jones would strike with Anderson, I'm saying he's not going to ****** it like your daddy Chael Sonnon and his gay ass wrestling style that you love so much that includes zero effective striking, and a very limited submission base.

I'm saying he's going to have to be careful with how he goes for takedowns, which will mean following Anderson around in a more cautious and careful way than something your hero, you know the guy who's poster is hanging on your ceiling that you go to sleep to every night.

I don't know whether Jones toe is going to have a long term negative effect on him. I'll tell you, I've done things before and found out later I had broken ribs.. It hurt initially, then it hurt when I breathed for several months after all the adrenaline was gone. I'm saying I felt initial pain, then none, then when the adrenaline went away, inflammation set in, I knew what was up.. For months you experience mild pain while breathing.. You get kinda used to it but it can get kinda bad when you twist.

When I was a kid I severely sprained my big toe, didn't realize it until a couple days after I did it and tried to put weight on it.. I couldn't properly walk or plant on that entire foot for a couple of months..

Just saying man. :D Maybe you never had injuries, I think Anderson knows exactly what he's doing calling out Jones like this, if that is indeed what he is doing. I'd be willing to bet he saw something during the fight, and the sheer prospect of Jones having a nagging injury that will effect his mobility and explosiveness, especially on his foot is something that would benefit Anderson in spades, because he's going to circle and counter, it's what he does, everybody knows it.

Not saying Jones won't succeed, I'm saying the situation maximizes Andersons chances for a victory. Iron is hot like I said. You can put that in your book. :deal

As fighters, they aren't going to say anything about their injuries or weaknesses to other fighters. Just seems like the right time for Anderson all things considered.

My opinion is that it probably will not happen.

Its quite unfortunate that Silva is just a tad too big for GSP and Jones is just a tad too big for Silva!

2013 may be the year that the so-called "super-fight" break out year is ruined by Hendricks and Weidman, and it will be called the year of the "rematch" :D

All of the above said, if Anderson Silva requests a Jon Jones fight and actually means it, they will probably make it once he gets past Weidman. Given that he's signed a 10 fight deal the Belfort rematch is also out there, another fight I'm very interested in :good

I don't see it like that. I think that if he ever fights Anderson, his toe will be fully healed and will not be a factor. And I think that he'll get the takedown quickly, and from there it is all downhill for Anderson.

Plus, all your doomsday predictions about the toe, but Anderson will be almost 39 when they fight. Sure he has looked good, but he is slowing down and fighters who rely so much on pinpoint reflexes and accuracy can get old overnight. Especially when they are in with guys who hold every physical advantage over them, who have dominated fights using several different styles, who are super-confident and hungry for the win and who - may - even be more naturally talented. :good

But hey, I'm not even confident that Anderson will beat Chris Weidman. I don't view that win as a guaranteed outcome at all. :conf

The ufc would have to be raging queers not to make this fight, which they probably are.

Weidman is coming into his own, I don't think he has the shot to take down Anderson at this point. He misses and gets stuffed, at this point in Andersons career he's been taking the mount off of his own stuffs and either pounding guys out or forcing them to give up their back. Weidman needs to be very careful with his takedown attempts, Anderson is as good as they come when it comes to taking advantage of a stuffed takedown.

Weidman is impressively dangerous up close, but Anderson's striking never naturally plays into his style if that makes sense. Munoz got tagged trading inside with him, Anderson likes to probe with his shots, change levels and utilize angles from the outside so he has time to move off of his offense and look for counters. He seems to go for blind angles when he attacks, not sure if you get that from watching him.

So.. The way I see it Wiedman has to go for a single. He's out in the open if he tries to close in for a bodylock off of his striking, which he tends to do because of the advantages in strength and speed.. But Anderson has reach and accuracy. Anderson has been beating up guys similar to him for a while now.. He's really got to figure a way to get Anderson to the ground without it seeming like it's totally telegraphed to Anderson. Wrestlers need to set up their takedowns with something.. What does Weidman have for Anderson in that Department Haggis??? This is why I think Anderson will KO him.. He has nothing for Anderson there.

So, how to you think Weidman sets up for a single, or double without Anderson reading it from a mile away? He's shorter, he cant feint off lunging shot from the outside vs. Adnerson.. He's not quite a bullrusher like Sonnen is, and besides Anderson just beat the crap out of that style..

I don't get why Weidman is so special vs. Anderson. Care to explain? I see Anderson having some major advantages.. Pretty confident he will win easily.

And, about the toe.. I'm not saying it's the end of his career. I'm saying it could be worse than he ever shows or admits. It's an unknown, it's something that if it's an injury will effect him vs. a fighter like Anderson who will make Jones attack him and look to counter. If you cant plant on your big toe to handle the forces of your own explosive movements optimally, that's a pretty serious thing to deal with, and it will slow you down. I don't think you understand how serious a toe injury can be. If it slows him down just a step, that's a nice thing for Anderson.

I see all three undisputed champions (GSP, Silva, Jones) defending their titles once more, Jones maybe twice. They've all cleaned out their divisions pretty much. Anderson has Weidman to deal with, the only fight he'll probably want outside of that is Bisping and he wants big fights. GSP has Hendricks and then can enter a big fight. Jones wants Gustafsson but if Machida beats him and since Cormier doesn't look to be moving down, there's really only Hendo who Jones would probably beat easily anyway. If they can't make a superfight between Anderson and GSP or Jones, it'll be very disappointing.
