Khan gaining respect

  1. Nathan cleverly and david price are 2 that get unfair stick off supposed boxing fans but by far the biggest victim is amir khan
I have read disgusting comments about him and his race as well as no respect for his ability

But i see a slight thawing today because of his exciting ballsy style
I box and to be on the back foot, getting hurt time and time again is hard, hard work
Amir has guts by the barrowload

Steve lillis said last night how can you want him to lose when he is so good for boxing.Anybody agree, the time has come for the haters to show some respect for a consistently exciting fighter

He has a weak chin, true. His style is sometimes irritating, true. But I absolutely agree. Every one of his fights bring excitement, his style is great to watch, and his personality and skillset generate a lot of interest. Khan is great for boxing, particularly in a division where there's not really any other standout British fighters.

Khan and his crew have no respect for anyone other than themselves. People want to see him knocked out because his entire camp is irritating and delusional. He pretty much made it clear he won't be fighting over here again on Saturday, probably due to his inability to fill an arena in his homeland. Yes his fights are exciting to a lot of people because he's always teetering on the edge of another loss...........

I doubt you respect anyone. You're funny but you've got to be the most negative poster on here!

I respect loads of fighters, in fact you have to have a certain amount of respect for every fighter, although when it comes to Khan or Cleverly that respect is hidden away, I like honest fighters just like I like honest people in real life, its hard to praise Khan and others when they are deluded and annoys the hell out of you.

Nobody has a divine right to respected, respect is earn't not a given.

I don't believe Khan has received much abuse on this forum due to his race, to be honest.

    Deluded or ambitious?

Who are these honest people in boxing that you speak of?

Honest is probably the wrong word because looking at it there really not that many, I don't like arrogant people and prefer the more realistic more humble type fighters.

To give an example I prefer Pacquaio over Mayweather, or Tim Bradley over Khan for instance, Ricky Burns over Broner, etc.

Fair enough Bill. I see why you might prefer those three.

For me though I don't get this 'Khan is arrogant' vibe. He nearly always comes across as humble and down to Earth IMO. I think he has a right to believe he is very, very good at what he does; Olymic Silver @ 17, unified world champion etc. I think it's sensible for him to chase a Floyd fight - so what if he loses, he'd make a bomb.

Carl Froch is more arrogant than Khan IMO, no doubt about it.

EDIT: cue the examples of Khan acting arrogant. A quote without context is virtually meaningless :thumbsuo

Oh I agree Froch is definitely and to be fair he starting to get on my tits a bit lately, I don't think Khan intentionally is arrogant I think its more lack of PR skills, saying things like I'm a bigger star than Kell Brook in his hometown, I'm a level above Guzman (which may or may not be true) but then fights Molina, the whole Hatman shambles was embarrassing, Khan has this knack of blaming everybody but himself, I don't know if its arrogance but its not a likeable trait.
