There was a Prizefighter equivalent on the undercard for Cooper-Clay (Cooper-Ali I). http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=15974 Old age promoting?
Prizefighter has run its course. If it's going to be used then it should be used more sporadically. If Hearn can't put on decent cards and undercards given the privileged position he presently occupies in British boxing then there's a big problem for the sport. Having said that, I was surprised with the Hearn-Haye tie up to start with. It's obvious Haye wants Sky Box Office back under him again, but to get there he will still be commanding fairly large paydays and Hearn wants his cut too. A prizefighter undercard or a pretty miserable undercard would be a solution. On the other hand there may be no need to worry and Matchroom will come good on their words: "I am delighted that Matchroom has reached this ground-breaking agreement with Sky Sports. The future of boxing for fight fans and TV viewers is deeper bills with more title fights and more competitive fights in packed out arenas." (Edward Hearn, Aug 2012)
For **** sake behave. there was Frampton/Martinez in Feb - competitive bellew/Chilemba in March - competitive Rose/Alcine in april - competitive. Its getting very dull.
I really was hoping that Eddie would try and slowly push Prizefighter out of the picture and concentrate on his stable, It seems he's going the other way and giving it a push forward, which I'm sorry but its inexcusable.
I would have the John Ryder v Billy Joe Saunders fight on the undercard (if Hearn wins the purse bids)
Do you not think that's a Saturday night main event on its own? I have to say, I don't get this obsession with undercards. You've got David Haye in the main event. Let's say Eddie has Darren Barker, and a recently signed Scott Quigg on the undercard (along with Audley Harrison) Let's say Darren Barker's fight is an eliminator for a world title, and Quigg is fighting for the European title. That's two Saturday fight night main events gone as well. I'm not on the Eddie Hearn hype train yet, but Brian Rose excepted, we're having it pretty good in terms of main events, in terms of the main events featuring world level, or close to world level stars. That'll do me at the moment. Have a marquee fight as the main event, and make the undercard full of prospects fighting meaningful, helpful fights, getting them used to a wide range of opponents, and fighting in big arenas.
Nice one HOF :good Eddie has fooled the lot of you. This stable he has "assembled" he is about to unassemble like IKEA furniture. All of them will be in catastrophic Prizefighter's. Burns, Froch, Brook, Groves, Haye, you name it, they'll be on it. The mission was not to make champions, the mission was to destroy FWP. :deal One by one they come, one by one they switched allegiance to Matchroom. Frank is on the ropes. But Frank's a fighter. Frank's a warrior. HOLD ON FRANK! NO PAIN! NO PAIN! NO PAIN! :|
Id stick Crolla if available on the undercard, Luke Campbell in another run out, he's got plenty to choose from.
