Seems to get allot of hate on here already but I was really impressed with him on Saturday. What did you guys think? Opponent wasn't amazing but better than most fight on there pro debut. He stopped a guy that usually goes the distance. Like the fact it looks like he is going to be fighting at Light Middleweight. Always felt he looked a little bit small for a Middle. Nice to see an Olympian not fighting above the weight most think they should be at. He looked focused, very fast hands but still punches correctly, very shard, good timing for a guy that hadn't fought for 9 months, also looks like he can dig.
Yeah impressed Most debuts are boring and awkward affairs but he was sharp Obviously not phased but the evening, great ko but I thought what stood out was great speed and variety. He found his range quickly and wasn't physically intimidated at all Pretty much perfect debut, another prospect Also like hughie fury some fights in the us have to be beneficial as at the more testing stages of his development the standard is a lot higher with many styles
are you basing this off one fight with Joe Selkirk? Or are there any other occasions where he got sparked?
Looked nice at times, finish was lovely. Got some skills and counterpunches as well as leads so that's promising, bit herky jerky at times and bounces around a bit to much at times but he's talented and his debut was what you'd want a stoppage early on in nice fashion. Job done..
pretty sure he took a count against Eamon o'kane in the commonwealth games final aswell. Could be wrong though.
Really? Never heard that before, never even knew that O Kane had fought him before you said it tbh. I see he beat Ogogo 16-4, thats three of our middleweights who have scored dominant wins over him in the amateurs now. Not that it'll have much impact on how he does as a pro, just an interesting fact. Ogogo's decent at the very least (certain better than Eubank Jr) and has a few nice tools, decent speed, power and boxing skills. He could make it to European level with some hard work. It'll be interesting to see how he is brought along all the same.
Was a solid debut. Kinda reminded me of a DeGale early fight against some stiff upright no-mark. I echo some of the above though, grave chin/durability concerns. Even in the Olympics which was obviously a great, unexpected showing...being serious he got pushed all over the place against Khytrov and in a professional scenario you'd expect him to get battered there. And Falcao looked leagues above him in strength and punching power, hurt him a lot. Going to need to strengthen and toughen up as much as anything. He has ability, a bit bouncy at times. Good fighters will time that.
Nice knockout. From what I saw of him in the amateurs, he won't reach the top level in the pro's. Too fragile.
