I'm surprised Leonard Ellerbe managed to pull his tongue away from Floyd's arsehole long enough to speak to the BBC, then again he probably thought the BBC stood for something else.
I'd love it to happen, to see one of the best fighters ever fight infront of you is always going to be a special occassion for boxing fans but it wont happen imo.
I heard Vegas makes about $1billion everytime he fights (over the weekend) they ain't letting him leave. That casino money is too high.
Not that I think it will ever happen but it would need to be a big name British opponent to maximise revenue, also what's the point of having it over here?
According to him he loves the British fans and would love to fight over here. I just think with his huge Showtime contract the man doesn't need to sell out a huge arena. It's Mayweather, I'm sure fans will want to see him live/on TV whether it's against a Brit or or not. Obviously a massive difference but someone like Ali fought in Ireland and they didn't need to roll out an Irish guy. Floyd will get over $40m no matter who or where he fights thanks to Showtime.
On the boxing hour Ellebere kept talking about Floyd holding an event in the UK. He didn’t really specify it would be a fight. They must be pi$$ed that Khan is so ****. GBP have been begging to make this fight for like 2 years. Every time Amir is a fight away from the big one, he gets beat. Mayweather isnt silly, it was the Hatton fight that really turned him in to a mainstream crossover star, he knows the power of the British audience.
the hatton fight was HUGGEEE & certainly made him a star in the uk but i think it was more the HBO push the start of the 24/7 series and the de la hoya fight that really made floyd a star in america and worldwide 1st
To the casuals it was the Hatton fight, for sure. Every single casual boxing fan I know first heard of Mayweather when he fought Hatton, every single one.
he has been in the uk before not for a fight, so what speaks against that happening again should he face khan. he is 100% sure never going to fight in the uk as long as anyone in the u.s. still wants to see him though, no doubt about that... here is a video of him training at the legendary peacock gym: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1nnFd-OG60
