De La Hoya would win by a close decision. Burley would give Oscar hell.

While there were rumblings of Oscar coming in at 160 in earlier days, he seemed to whip himself into better shape for his higher profile fights. I always think of Oscar as the 152-pound fighter he was against Trinidad and Mosley. So here, he would not only face a stylistic disadvantage, but also a disadvantage in size; all from a pretty scary operator in Burley.

I picture Burley pulling off a reverse-Whitaker, leading De La Hoya around the ring and into counters. Oscar will try to attack off the balls of his feet, all while employing a baiting in-and-out defense. Charley will likely recognize the tactic, and circle his quarry for the easy decision.

SD either way - Burley lands the better cleaner punches and deserves to win, DLH throws more but misses allot I think. So Burley deserves to win close but clear but the Golden Boy factor, the fans cheering everything DLH does, well that all affects the judges perception.

I don't know enough of Burley, but I hear the man was a beast.

Would you have it close, you think? Questionable decisions that went Oscar's way were usually one-point fights. I had him losing to Whitaker and edging Quartey.

Yea I think so, except I'd probably prefer Burley's work and have him up 8-4 where as some who favoured Oscar's ineffective flurries would see it 7-5 either way.

Oscar would have success too, he's taller/rangier, he's probably faster, he moves more, he has a very good jab and a great left hook. It's not easy to box him and even harder to dominate him.

One never can tell. And it's true what you say about Oscar.

I think DLH lasts the distance. His famed jab would have been as ineffective as it's ever been, though. Burley steps, shifts, and counters to a UD. DLH may visit the canvas.

A younger Oscar weighing in about 152 might make a good fight of it.The one that campaigned as a modern 154lb fighter would get decimated.

Same day weigh ins at 147 Oscar is stopped.

24 hour weigh in Oscar gives him the Trinidad treatment.

I don´t think DLH would be stopped, it´s not like Burley always stopped guys of that level.....Burley by fair decision though...
