Lucas Browne fought a big name opponent in front of a packed house who were chanting for him in Melbourne yesterday. Mark de Mori fought a guy with 2 fights to his name in front of 20 disinterested Germans. Even the 44 year old version of James Toney who Browne beat yesterday would very likely have beaten everybody on de Mori's record, and de Mori has never fought a 'name' opponent, not one.
Toney is **** now sorry. He is not that **** like Demoris opponents. But he is still ****. I dont see anything good in beating this James Toney. Toney is now Brownes best win. After 16 fights. This is nothing impressiv. In fact it is very bad.
The main purpose of Browne fighting and beating Toney was exposure, there's no secret there. But the guy can still fight, even at 44 and with a big gut. Browne is out there testing himself and just as importantly, getting his name out there. He was all set to fight Richard Towers til Towers pulled out with injury. de Mori has only ever fought two types of opponent. Those that will never be any good and those that aren't any good any more. This is the most padded record in Australian boxing >>> http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=237842&cat=boxer
Sorry I dont see anything good in beating Toney. And it should also not be a test. Toney is just a name right now. He is shot and CANT fight anymore. Man if he had something left he would have won. In his prime he would have PLAYED (and I mean really played) with opponents like Browne. I just dont like it to see Toney fighting like this. If Browne wants to prove something he need to fight european or american heavyweights. But the good ones wont go to australia. Browne should try to get a decent journeyman. But even this could be to much for him.
Of course Toney would have toyed with Browne, as he did everyone else when he was in his prime. The major reason Browne fought Toney was EXPOSURE, and beating Toney will give him exposure. Toney is a shadow of his former self, but only 5 men had beaten him in 25 years until yesterday. Browne is signed by Ricky Hatton, and was to fight Richard Towers overseas. Only Towers pulled out just prior to the bout. Browne has a growing fan base and is out there having a red hot go at making it. Nobody could accuse de Mori of that.
Dont get me wrong I dont like Demori.... But so far Browne has done nothing better than him in my opinion. Beating Toney is nothing impressiv. But yeah maybe Browne can make some noise. I just think he dont has the skills to do something great. Maybe he can beat guys like Towers (who himself is not good) but I dont see Browne as a serious contender.
I've never claimed Lucas Browne is a major contender. Only that he has potential and now, after a slow build-up, is giving it a serious shot. Remember Browne has only been a pro boxer since 2009. To compare Lucas Browne with what Mark de Mori has been doing for nearly 10 years is really being offensive to Browne.
If you really must draw comparisons between Lucas Browne and Mark de Mori explain this one away >>> [yt]YTzveE9Z4Lw[/yt] de Mori is ranked top 20 by two organisations and less than a week ago fought a 38 year old with 2 pro fights to his name who went in injured, and lasted about 2 minutes. de Mori is shamelessly padding his record with absolute stiffs.
Demori was saying the other day that Haye's camp were in contact with him about a prospective fight between the two, prior to the announcement that Haye and Charr were to fight. Mark would need to gradually step up his level of opposition and would otherwise be a lamb sent to slaughter if he took on a top heavy right now.
How ridiculous , you gotta ask yourself whats the point, The guys injured at the wiegh in , but mark rekons when he hits them in the body they get sore shoulders. haha never short of being a joke or a comedian.
Iko knew the body barrage was coming too hard and fast for him. So he tapes up for an excuse and then uses it to avoid his bashing. The WBF world title fight will hopefully have a more courageous opponent. But what can you do when you are the most ducked HW in Europe at the moment?
According to the fight poster in this thread Mark de Mori's next opponent, for the WBF world title (LOL!), is Adnan Buharalija >>> http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=323804&cat=boxer As you'll see, Buharalija has been stopped inside the first round 2 rounds in 4 of his past 5 fights, and has lost 8 of his past 10 fights, all by stoppage atsch Mark "Master of the Mismatch" de Mori is at it again
I am personally salivating for a Welliver comeback to fight Mark. If Chauncy could get Ik Yang a big fight in China, him and Mark could be the co main event. WBF Title and Top 15 rankings on the line. Chauncy held the Asian Boxing Council title and Mark held the intercontinental asian title. Chauncy is The Boxing Panda and Mark has the hair of The Boxing Rat. It has all the hallmarks of a perfect fight to market to China. [yt]_5kekM_-X8A[/yt]
Only two of Germany's top ten heavy weights were born there. [ranked 8th & 9th] Boxing in Germany would be stuffed without the foreign fighters who compete under the German flag. Berliner is just trying to comfort himself by trolling down under. :verysad
