:deal He certainly had his moments and I'm sure domestically the heavyweight division over the last decade would have been a more boring place without him. Even though he didn't achieve his goal and often his performances were very poor it was an entertaining story.
British champion? When did that happen? OK, European champion... but that was a vacant belt against Sprott which he never defended... Audley wasn't Euro level. He wasn't even that good at British level.
The park was saved after a lottery funding pay out. Many reliable street traders breathed a sigh of relief and tipped their crack pipe to Audley when the news was announced as it provides valuable cover to vend rocks and Bobby Brown to the ever grateful locals. If Audley Harrison left one legacy behind, it will be the needle ridden play ground on one of the worst estates in London. I'm hoping he makes a come back so they can also save the area of barren wasteland just across the tracks from Stonebridge that is being used by junkies and prostitutes as well, got to dream the dream.
Cue next Heavyweight Prizefighter. There a man short for the last quarter final. The lights go out...images of a helicopter taking off from Stonebridge Adventure Playground and landing at York Hall are flashed up on the big screen and out jumps a colossus of a man but his face is covered surely not.......
He is a likeable guy. I hope he can retire and be happy away from boxing. His problem was he just had no chin at all, and didn't have the defence to make up for it. Not much would have been different if he'd actually shown up for his big fights. Unless he was planning to make a career of blowing out opponents early before they get to him (not practical) it would have made little difference. Haye would still have beaten the best version of Audley. So would the Klitschkos Thanks, Audley
Someone has ruined his Wikipedia page. It used to have all his nicknames listed: A-Force, A-Farce, Ordinary, Audrey, etc.
