So you are saying the referee should consistently make bad calls. Oh, ok. I see. Yeah, you are brilliant. Just brilliant. atsch
Reminded me of Million Dollar Baby one of the cameramen came into the ring halfway through a Dirrell fight too
This. Reiss probably saw that his decision in the Molina/Kirkland fight was shitty and had the presence of mind to make a better call this time.
Didnt the HBO crew say in California the commission rules out accidents like that if Molina was in Cali he wouldnt be DQ'd
Jack Reiss is not a great ref (there are few such things), but the fact that he didn't DQ Stiverne for an inconsequential breach separates him from truly shitty refs out there who fail in decisions that are up to their discretion.
It's not a mandatory DQ in this case. It was up to the ref's discretion and he made the right call since it had no impact on the outcome of events. A ref with balls could probably get away, in most cases, with not issuing a DQ in states where it is mandatory. The commission would be unlikely to rule it a DQ after the fact, though they could.
You ever think he didn't want the same backlash as before? Also, Molina got DQ'd while he taking a beating. Stiverne was putting down a beating when the incident happened.
What fight were you watching? Molina was winning the fight handily. I have to agree with what people have said. It looks like they were pushing for a win by James Kirkland.
Learning from a past mistake makes him a good ref. Or at least a better ref than when he made the mistake.
Lemme clarify this: It's a lame attempt by Arreola's promoter to steal a win, 'n shameful for boxing. Chris was hopelessly outclassed. Step by step: in the third round, there was a 10-second warning. With one or two seconds left, Arreola got hit with a crushing right 'n dropped to the canvas. The time keeper looked at his stopwatch 'n wasn't aware of the KD. A KD'd fighter can't be saved by the bell if the ref is in the middle of a count. While the ref was in the middle of the count, the time keeper, checking his stopwatch, rang the bell 'n Stiverem's corner men rightly threw a stool in 'n jumped in the ring. The ref stopped the count 'n told 'em ta get out. Arreola beat the count. The time keeper rang the bell again, signaling the official end of time.
