What you're eluding to is that Marciano could have stopped Walcott basically any time he wanted to. When you're a challenger in a world championship fight, you don't **** around waiting for a convenient opportunity to stop the champ, while absorbing unnecessary punishment in the meantime. You take the opportunity when it comes, especially when you're a seek and destroy type of guy like Marciano.. For Rocky, that chance didn't come until round 13, when Walcott was good and tired.

Not really... Hearns was winning that fight until he tired late.. As a big puncher, Tommy had dispatched most of his opponents early, with exception of Randy Shields whom he stopped in the 12th. .. Only Leonard was the one with any real long distance experience beyond 12. I remember hearing Manny Steward telling Hearns in the corner, " Tommy I'm going to have to stop this fight if you don't punch." Hearns was out of gas... Plain and simple.. That opportunity wasn't going to come any earlier, regardless of what the bout was scheduled for...

Looking at the poll I can't say Frazier is underrated when it comes to H2H. At least not in this matchup.

Wat you are implyin is tat te number of rounds doesnt affect ow a fiter paces imself and te result of is efforts. Marciano could not ave stopped Walcott at any time e wanted, but e could at least ave concentrated earlier on seekin te knockout as opposed to conservin is enery for te campionsip rounds.

You reckon Marciano-Walcott and Leonard-earns are different, yet we can aree tat on bot occasions, te winnin boxer became tired and complacent. My point was tat if Leonard knew tere was only twelve rounds, like Marciano, e would ave been seekin a knockout earlier by uppin te pressure.

    My apoloies for terrible typin.

No worries. I'm assuming you have a few letter keys broken on that phone you're using. I guess we're just going to have to agree to disagree.

A lot of groomed fighters have the luxury of built up records compared to the school of hard knocks that JJ Walcott had to survive and the black murders row opponents that he made it through to get the shot at Louis and being Champion when he fought Marciano. Frazier had the Olympic build up but Bonavena, Quarry and Ellis were his best until Ali and he had a total of 26 fights going into the FOTC, He got dropped by Mike Bruce, Oscar 2X and wobbled by Manuel Ramos, then fought Daniels and Stander and was stunned before losing to Foreman, he won 4 of his last 8 fights and had a total of 32 wins 4 losses and a draw for a total of 37 fights and he could have lost to Walcott, Charles,Moore or any ,Frazier was one of my favorites of the era and I rate him high but IMO he loses this one

Frazier was just too strong like Bowe would be over Frazier. If they were all the same size I might pick Rocky, then Joe than Bowe.
