Pacquiao already beat Bradley, relatively easy. A win over Bradley certainly wouldn't bridge the gap.
Can JMM beat Cotto? I don't think so. Hatton. I think so but not in the fashion Pacquiao did. I would say PAC has the better resume, not by alot but he has the better resume.
People saying a win vs Bradley won't make Marquez greater is one thing, but people saying Manny's resume is WAY better... That's ridiculous
This is what the thread title should read. ^^^^ Maybe you can get one of our fine admins to edit for you? :thumbsup
ppl seem to forget careful/selective match making... non-disclosed weight stipulations jmm has proven he is the better fighter already. he put an exclamation point on that last fight so the judges couldn't rob him again. that is how it is done gentlemen.
When he was dehydrated as a 12yo. As a grown man he was actually bigger than Marquez, carrying more weight/muscle
Which is why IMO he'd have to out-do his performance, with Bradley not looking damaged. But he's not a sole determining factor for ranking JMM above or below.
It pains me but Marquez will never rank above Pac or Floyd. -That Norwood W would've helped but it was never awarded, same with the Pac fights...never got the decisions. The hype machine was just too great from 2006-2010 for Manny, and even then, what did he do? Sorry but beating a past it Morales that already beat you up when he shouldn't have in the first place, does nothing for me. The Marquez rematch was a good win. Diaz Hatton was excellent, Cotto was OK but he ducked Mosley for that fight so it is kinda sour, and it was a catchweight. The last 3 years of Pac's career hasn't been anything special though. If you can find a way to rank Marquez ahead of Manny, by all means I'm all ears.
I try not to think about it too much because I'm biased, IMO there are multiple weighs you can rank them objectively. Floyd has the most depth, Marquez has the best win(s) over an ATG in his prime, and Pacquiao has a balance by having a few better wins than Floyd, but less depth; and more depth than Marquez, but was beaten by him clearly at least twice. I had JMM edging the first (sometimes scoring for a draw), edging the second (once scoring to Pac consciously being generous to him), clearly taking the third, and obviously the 4th. I've scored them over and over trying to be objective but that's how I saw it. I think the way you score that rivalry depends a lot on how you rank the 3. But in terms of JMM-Mayweather, I put a lot of weight on the fact Marquez faced Pacquiao 4 times when Floyd never did once. I blame Arum for a large portion of that but it never stopped Marquez from making the fight. Floyd never sounded eager and was publicly hounded for a year out of the game with no real explanations. People forget that. I'd rather fail at climbing one high mountain peak, and reach the top of another, than chill on a high plateau and never try to climb higher. If you break down the best wins between Marquez and Pacquiao, aside form each other: Marquez: Barrera Casamayor Diaz Salido John (depending on your score) Pacquiao: Barrera Cotto De La Hoya Bradley Hatton Pac's wins over Barrera and Cotto really separate him IMO, but it's not SO much of a gap that it necessarily overcomes Marquez's win over Pacquiao himself. In my view, the only way you can leapfrog someone who beat you clearly multiple times is if you accomplish far greater feats. Pacquiao has accomplished more, but a whole lot more? Ali-Norton/Barrera-Jones levels? I don't think so. It's up in the air. At this point I'm just rambling but I hope you can see I'm trying to weigh the factors fairly. At the end of the day I just don't bother with those 3.
Well Marquez isn't really done yet. A W over Bradley, and beating the best at 140 help him a ton. He can do it. I hate rating fighters that aren't done fighting though, just so weird to me.
