Fighters you used to love?

When Broner was coming up I was really excited. Up and coming American fighters are needed to keep the sport strong, particularly in the US. Then he had a taste of fame. It's been all downhill ever since.

Mayweather too, to a lesser extent. Anyone remember Floyd back in the day. He actually had traits such as humility and respect. He's grown up to become a very cynical man.

 

Ortiz (after the Floyd fight), Margarito (after the plaster).

On the opposite end, became a Rigo fan after beating Donaire (quite ironically as I am a Donaire fan, but his skills impressed me a lot), Bradley after the Prod fight (ironic after the Pac robbery), Rios after the Alvarado fights.

I don't think I was ever a Manny Pacquiao fan, but I didn't always dislike him. When he mulnlipuated the rules to gain 2 championships and singal handely kept the biggest fight in boxing from happening. My opinion started to sway. By letting someone else take the blame that was the thing that pushed me over.

 

That that and that for some reason people think handling you responsibilities is something special,rain don't fall on just one man's house.

I used to really root for him, until he blatantly cheated Charr out of his chance, with the thumbing, the rabbit-punch KD, and then the BS cut-stoppage.

AFAIC, his "legacy" is tarnished for life. If the old geezer is too old to cut it in the ring, he should just retire, & stop stinking up the joint.

 

Not as big a fan of Cotto as I once was.

I get the feeling that he doesn't train as hard as he maybe used to. Also, why did he get rid of that Cuban trainer? Same guy as workin' w/Rigo, right?

I wish him well in his promoting endeavours, however. Gotta think that ex-star boxers turning promoter is a good trend. Hope some past-it greats go the trainer route, too.

 

Lennox, was a big fan until the Vitali fight. such a shame he had to flee into retirement like that

 

Oscar - loved him as a fighter, hate him as a promoter

Oscar turned out to be both ineffectual, and just as corrupt as the rest of those other vermin.

Yuriorkis Gamboa - I can't exactly pinpoint why I'm not as big of a supporter but something about his aura threw me off along the way.

 

Not "loved," but I used to like:

Matthysse
Hopkins
Rios
Trout
Sergio

...their fans turned me off. Especially Hopkins' fans. They are bitter serious trash talkers, who happened to be wrong about Dawson II every time they insulted what I said before the fight.

 

Austin Trout is way too humble of a dude to ever let his fans get me to stop liking him as a person.
