If Floyd cleans out the 145 and 140 division w/o fighting Alverez..

obviously it wouldnt hurt it. It would enance it a bit, but they'd be just a bunch of names . And he's likely not fighting anybody from TR so he can't really clean it out anyway.

Alvarez isn't ready. I'm not even sure how long he stays at 154 anyways and I'm not sure if Floyd will ever fight there again anyways. Floyd is old

 

Floyd's legacy as an ATG is set. Anything he does now is gravy, anything he doesn't do doesn't matter.

 

He should fight Canelo at 150 and it will make him a legendary giant slayer like David and Goliath...but first Canelo should get banned for wraps and not have any ranking to make it a true legendary victory.

No. 154 isn't his weightclass. The fact that he has even gone up there to fight anyone only enhances his career. Did it hurt Hagler's career for never fighting for a belt in a higher division?

140-147 increases his career credentials slightly, because Top Rank holds a lot of fighters there he won't be able to face. Die hard fans will say it does a lot, haters will say it does nothing/hurts it.

 

You can't compare Hagler to Mayweather. Hagler never "retired" or took a "vacation" when his division got hot. He cleaned that division out and ruled it with a gloved fist.

But I agree that Mayweather shouldn't be expected to go up to 154.

 

Curious to know, and all bashing aside...has Floyd ever actually fought a junior middleweight who campaigned predominantly as a jr middle?

 

Well there was a particular point in time in which Floyd proclaimed he was the best fighter up to the 154 weight class.

He then went on to avoid guys like Winky Wright and Paul Williams.
