I think Josey summed it up well. I remember the hype surrounding Lacy when he signed to fight JC & he was never in it & never the same after that fight...........I think Joe's best win was over Kessler...........I just wished JC was still around to fight someone like Ward..........that would be a superfight to be made.

Unfortunately people summarise Roy's career based on the results of his latter fights.......I agree Francis a prime Roy was near untouchable........apart from Ward I don't see a current fighter form 160lbs - 175lbs giving a prime Roy trouble......he was special.......I can say the same for Floyd as well.

Yes Roscoe , In was at that fight ring side and the so called slaps Joe was landing at will were heavy enough to smash poor Jeffery up to bits . Joes best win was indeed v Kessler and i think the kessler that Ward beat up so was not the same guy who went the distance with Joe , don't get me wrong SOG is a brilliant fighter but anyone saying he would smash Joe up for 12 are the deluded ones, imo it would be a close fight but a prime and pumped Joe could possibly steal it ,

BTW ,a prime non juicing RJJ loses to nobody iv'e had the pleasure of watching over the years and that includes Joe on his very best day . the fight they had should have zero effect on peoples opinion as they never fought each other in their primes , its all well and good being patriotic but common sense should always prevail, as much as Joe made me proud Roy runs away with it in the end imho. :good

Remember when Joe was always talking about fighting at light heavy? He pulled out of fights with Johnson numerous times, Woods, Tarver etc. Calzaghe had no balls, he would've never even entertained the thought of competing with Hopkins or Jones back in the day. He was injury prone and couldn't punch for **** because he was a drained light heavy who never did any strength training. He ducked Hopkins, Jones, Ottke, Dawson.
****, he almost ducked Jeff ****ing Lacy until his dad pushed him into the fight. Calzaghe is a good, not great fighter. He never dominated his B grade opponents. His best performance was against Kessler, who was never going to be an ATG himself. Calzaghe never adjusted to anything in fights, he just flurried away to outpoint opponents. He was tough and determined, a large endurance athlete. There are countless opponents he ducked, and it's not hard to imagine any of them giving him problems considering his low level of competition and struggles against the likes of Reid.

I had Reid winning 7-5 and Kessler was on the way to breaking Joe down until, like all good champions do, Joe changed the fight in the 8th with a wicked body shot. I had Joe winning 8-4 but a case could be made for 7-5. Froch gives Joe all he can handle. Aggression, good power, whiskers, stamina and a good straight right. Why no one took the
Reid blue print, i.e., the right hook both inside and outside, is beyond me. This was a key to victory IMO

Wrong. On the documentary ''No Average Joe'' it's on you-tube he was planning to fight Johnson if he beat Woods as was expected.
