Jim Lampley darting through the MGM after Mayweather/Ortiz literally right in front of me. Bunch of guys next to me grabbed him and asked him what he thought of it. "I called it a legal blow! I called it a legal blow during the broadcast!" he said in a super Lampley excited voice. I breathed on his face. It was weird, he was bolting to the transit/train station at the MGM... ?

Before I got into the arena, was approaching Emmanuel Steward before he turned and walked into the press room. He was smiling and looking sharp in a silver suit.

My brother ran into Haye after the fight. He pointed at him and said "David... Haye, what's up?" He said he almost called him David 'The Ducker' but caught himself and had an awkward pause. He said Haye nodded, raised his hand, and said "Oy there."

All this was before or after Mayweather/Ortiz.

In the ring?

 

Got a pic with Gamboa and Lara and Romon Garbey. Had a chat with Angelo Santana and his trainer back when he was just starting off, like 4 pro fights. Alfredo Angulo. I was at that card where Angulo was supposed to fight Mayorga, but Mayorga pulled out and cosme Rivera stepped in, I was pissed.

 

Nope.

The undercard was solid and had a variety of everything:

-Adonis Stevenson first round KO
-Jessie Vargas/Josesito Lopez consistent action and controversial SD
-Erik Morales/Pablo Cesar Cano blood fest and epic cut, Morales' last title victory
-a guy in his pro debut named Cassius Clay was a good laugh
-Said Ouali/Carson Jones punishing battle and upset
-Anthony Crolla winning every round but somehow only winning a SD
-...plus the huge screens dropping down for the Alvarez/Gomez split site match.

As for the main event, it was great action for 4 rounds and then a super dramatic, highly publicized and all time controversial ending? I'd say it was a damn good one to be at.

Lamont Peterson I have seen Lamont numerous times (used tro train around the corner form where I work - matter of fact the Headbangers gym where he trains, had just moved back to their original location in another part of the city a cpl months ago)
Anthony Peterson - Recently saw him at Lamonts fight agains Holt. Also had just previously ran into him jogging and we chalked it up for a few mins. This is when he was in negotiations with Gamboa. He said he knew me from back in the days, but I dont remember knowing him.
Seth Mitchell - I have seen and spoke with Seth quite a few times. Me and my folks spoke with him after his lost to Banks in AC. My homie played ball with him in HS (Former Avatar)

Barry Hunter - I literally approached him in Headbangers gym when they were off M St in SE DC. This was when they were training for the Khan rematch. I think it was the same day as the press conferene. I asked him if he needed any strength and conditioning assistance with his up and coming fighters as I knew Lamont/Anthony and T. Thompson already had their circle. He was real cool. We talked boxing for a good 10 minutes. He took my card and told me he knew some trainers in NE that might need some assistance but I never heard from them. Also would occasionally see him at the quizzno's on M. St.
Howard "Lucky" Latney - I met him through one of my personal training clients' friends. He wanted me to provide strength training for this upcoming MMA fighter and an amatuer boxer but both never materialized.

Broner- After his fight in AC against DeMarco, my folks (same scene as stated above regarding running into Seth) and I were near the diner in the casino and we ran into his Band Camp squad, then he walked around the corner with a couple of his crew. He was shorter than I expected. Cool cat though. I gave him dap and he said "All work is easy work", lol. I was going to ask for a picture but he was on the celly so I wasn't going to play myself.

Seen both Ali and Tyson at Lakers games. As you might guess, that crowd doesn't react much to any particular celebrity, but Ali left a bit early and got a big ovation, which would never happen for any one else, except maybe a president. I remember Tyson getting some kind of reaction too, though this is like 20 years ago, so it's a bit hazy.

 

sw david haye in the Ritz in manchester (love train night, good choice) he was slumped next to a fruit machine pretty wasted but that wasnt too long after the carl thompson fight so i cant really blame him,, guy was huge in person aswell even at cruiser, makes you realise how big some of these heavyweights are as the majority tower him, seen hatton a couple of times as well,, had a drink with michael gomez as well jus after he retired, was in good spirits havin a laugh and had time for everyone who spoke to him ( we were all dressed up for pub golf as well he didnt have a clue what was goin on)
