He's such a G it doesn't matter. Mayorga can come in at any weight. Imagine Mayorga vs Pacman at catchweight and Mayorga casually coming in 20 lbs heavier.
Boxing fans are such ****ing tools. You're gonna get behind a shot Mayorga in a sport he doesn't give enough of a **** about to weigh in correctly or learn his ****? I mean I love Mayorga but come on...
Did anyone seriously expect anything different? I was half expecting him to walk to the ring with a cigarette in his mouth, bottle of beer in one hand and a machete in the other. His opponent must've known what he was letting himself in for. In fairness, it looked like he at least knew what he was doing when he was on the canvas. He'd obviously done at least a little training.
Lol, well it helps to understand the Spanish commentary. No the fight definitely was not staged. Mayorga was on his way to losing until he illegally kneed the guy in the back. Because the ref was on the other side he might not have saw it, or assumed it landed somewhere else. Anyhow reminds me of some of the rules that keep MMA from being a real street fight. Regardless, no I don't think Mayorga took his training seriously and I think he is just doing it for fun. On the other side, all fighters start off fighting opponents closer to their level. Of course Mayorga and Kimbo would get wrecked by the top guys. But so would all new-comers to a sport. You have to build up their career until they are ready to face higher level guys.
It's not the same Mayorga. Cotto probably punched the last of that out of him, if not Mosley. I hope he does well, man. It's just sad when boxing fans want boxers to knock out MMA fighters. Yet MMA is a variety of different martial arts with boxing being one of them. Yet some people just don't get that and just see two men on the floor having a bit of a cuddle.
This is the equivalent of Kimbo Slice knocking out James Wade in his pro boxing debut. You throw any decent athlete with some sort of combat experience against a complete and utter bozo...and they're going to win.
Or Kimbo's demolishing of Ray Mercer if you prefer, in each fighters mma debut. Oh wait...it became an exhibition afterward. An exhibition in how to hand a pro boxer an mma loss with little to no previous training.
