well he wasn't entirely flat footed versus Cotto

Roger is an aggressive fighter + Floyd wanted to be more fan friendly. Now he got 6 fight deal of 200 million. He have to conserve himself. He is fighting again at sept.

Floyd let the critics influence him. He's back now.

You dont want to give Mosley his space to load up on his shots. Floyd made him constantly reset due to his quick stinging jab and pushed/neutralized Mosleys power by controlling the distance and with quick short combinations.

I believe he really did want the ko vs Cotto and sacrificed a lot of defense in order to really sit down to hurt Cotto. Also Cottos jab and peak-a-boo guard made it very difficult for Floyd to get off his pull counter right hand and lead rights. Plus the weight and 10oz gloves play a small part.

The tactics were to walk Shane down which they did and really should have stopped him.

He wasnt flat footed against Cotto, he was just asked to fight a very strong opponent who wouldnt let him have it all his own way.

I remember him saying in interviews that's he's more confident in his defense now then when he was younger, so he can stand in front of fighters and not get hit.

But I think he decided he needs to move more now at this age and not depend solely on his headmovement
