Anyone not considering Wlad great just isn't a boxing person as far as I'm concerned. If you can't realise how good he is and how great you have to be to pull off 8 years of complete dominance you simply don't have a clue.

Very different though LUFC, unlike Dempsey Wlad has been very active and pretty much taken all comers except for his brother. He's so dominant to the extent where his number 1 contender in Povetkin has actually avoided him.

The idea of fighting your brother and maybe needing to kill him in the last round to get the win is something pretty disturbing. It's not something you can realistically hold against a boxer. It's not avoiding a challenge or certain style, it's just being a normal human being.

Wlad is more active but Dempsey beat a better skill level of opposition and has a good number of hof guys on his ledger.

The only thing separating them is that I pick wlad to beat Dempsey

When it comes to 'stupidity' why don't we actually look at how many people see you as anything other than a fool. So that would mean every poster on here is wrong about you and you're really an unappreciated genius or more likely that you're just an idiot, either way you're generally considered the latter hence people bump threads to troll and laugh at you. It's also pretty obvious you've never boxed.

Povetkin has turned down the Klitschko fight time and again, finally he might be ready we'll see....

Well he didn't really, but it depends on which skill, for instance if you were to compile the best jabbers for instance they'd be in Wlad's list not Dempsey's. Haye looks better on film that any of Dempsey's opponents too. Byrd looks better defensively than any of Dempsey's opponents.

Wlad can not technically have HOF opponents because the HOF doesn't elect boxers until years after their retirement. HOF is also based on opinion and popularity and not ability, Brennan was basically a fringe contender, with a win loss resume against the best comparable to say Peter, actually Peter has a better list of wins. Actually if Brennan was the standard for the 'Hall' half of Wlad's opposition make it :D

I think gibbons is the most skilled fighter either faced but h2h it could be argued that haye is the best either faced.

I think the two belong in the same tier though, both have bad losses, both have a long reign and both had an outstanding contender for their reign. Not much separating them at all. I think wlad does better against a field of their peers though so it's him i would rank higher.

The hof itself is debatable but I'm a believer in the worth of the hall although i appreciate many disagree.

Doesn't linearity go out the window when the linear champ retires still holding the belts ? (Marciano, Ali, Lewis...)

Wlad holding a mythical lineal title doesn't do anything for his legacy imo.

As I mentioned, it disappears if and when the linear champ takes the belts with him to retirement.

But even if that doesn't happen, there are still limitations to the honour.

Let's say Ali had never rematched Spinks, Spinks would have held the distinction by overcoming a faded ghost of the man who stopped Liston twice.

And let's say Lewis had (unwisely) decided to rematch Vitali a year or so later, pushing 40, and probably gave the older Klitschko the linear title, would it have been against the same Lennox who beat Holyfield and Tyson, Mc Call and Rahman.

New lineage can and have been created.

So for Ring magazine, and for many others, a new lineage began when Wlad met Chagaev.

Lineage is 12-sided dice territory with fairies, fauns and dragons. It's a pointless, bull**** concept with so many deserving contenders having been jobbed and the fragmentation of the title.
