Round 7 is the strategy you need to employ to beat Mayweather

FLoyd is a great inside fighter, this has been proven over and over again.

Well if your somebody like robert whos at least a class or two below floyd , that's really all you can do - and thats what he should have done form the beginning. But he barely put in an effort in that fight.

Castillo did a mix of boxing and inside fighting. Same for Cotto. Hatton was just reckless, mindless and wore himself out.

 

I think the best way to beat Mayweather is to knock him out before the 3rd round. He is pretty vulnerable in the 1st and 2nd rounds as he is figuring you out. Obviously knocking him out in 2 rounds is very difficult but that's what I think.

 

No fighters in this era of Mayweathers 'reign' can deploy a 'force/impose' yourself gameplan onto him

He is simply one of the best of this era

Past and future fighters might have stood a better chance at beating him.

Really now it's just Mayweathers choice whether he wants to secure himself in history by facing someone like Canelo or Pacquiao. F8ck money... what's the superiority complex behind needing to get more of a share than Pac... That's one thing Mayweather lacks willing to fight anyone anywhere like alot of oldschool fighters.

 

So my game plan is to wait for Mayweather to take a breather? Is he going to take every round off? I wouldn't make my game plan against anyone based on the idea my oppoent will take every round off.

 

To beat Mayweather, I'm increasingly of the opinion that you need a heavy-hitting ******* with an iron chin and just run him down, take five to give one, until you knock him out.

I'm not sure he can be out-slicked or out-speeded. I don't think you can even Castillo I him any more -- he's a better fighter than back then. You need some Duran-Foreman hybrid with Hagler's beard.

 

The blue print to beating floyd is having physical advantages or skills that can match his own. Like hand speed. Defense. Foot speed. Size. Reach. The basic stuff you check out on boxrec when you start analyzing a fight.

 

Trouble is, that combination at that level is rarer than finding some bloke who might just improbably pull off a ground war.

 

Re-watched Hatton-Floyd recently. Hatton actually did very well considering how poorly Cortez was in the right.

You have to double the jab on your way in. Floyd counters the jab with a right, but you have to feint, double it up. Floyd back straights up in a line still and Roberto caught him sometimes, but rarely did capitalize on it. Mayweather is and will always be more defensively-oriented of a fighter. He doesn't want to get hit if he doesn't have to. He's a very reactive fighter. You have to use his defense-mindedness against him. That's what Castillo did. Feint, pick your spots, change the angle, fight on the inside, counter occasionally, especially when he throws that counter right hand one at a time. You must capitalize on the few moments, you have to throw combinations, and you can't let him pick you apart from a distance. Duran would give him fits and totally impose himself from a physical and technical standpoint. You can't just bum-rush. You need elements of good technical, smart boxing, with equalizing ability (Speed, power, stamina).

A good jab and bigger more physically imposing fighter also generally helps. Like Oscar for example.

 

Difference is the ref will break up all inside fighting time and again in every Mayweather fight. As soon as the action turns inside the ref will come in and force stop it. Like when the ref pulled Guerrero off when Guerrero started getting his shots off on the inside. Why does that never happen to Floyd when he's elbowing, pinning arms under his own? The other guy finally gets the inside upper hand and the ref instantly throws his own body in there.....It's fishy man, but it's every ****en Floyd fight.

 

Yeah right. all round seven did was turn into round eight and you know what happened in round eight. Adjustment.
