It's not some divine miracle someone survives a disaster when others die from it. Either God created the disaster, killed those people but saved some or he did **** all.

You can do that with anything you choose to believe in - be it a book, hell, it might as well be Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. Or a person, like Michael Jackson, or Ruben Guerrero. Trying to bring up the Bible as a positive when you don't follow everything it says kinda makes you a hypocrite but you can live with that - as all 'Christians' or religious people are, really.

 

If he was to play by the rules of logic and rational argument, he would, like any other believer, be forced to concede the entire debate.

Because he and others like him play outside the rules (often without realizing it as they are ignorant to the concept of logical fallacies) to avoid any possibility of the seeds of doubt taking root in their minds--the cognitive dissonance they euphemistically call "tests of their faith"--it's just not possible to have a good argument with one of the foolish faithful. Not that it matters: any fair debate pertaining to the existence of god is over before it has even begun.
