Gatti only had 'legendary toughness' against fellow club fighters. This impressive feat that harp on was repeated by Alfonso Gomez and Carlos Baldomir but a year later. Not to mention the fact that happened numerous times beforehand.
Yes, Ndou was a very solid fighter and Castillo and Marquez and Cotto and Mosely and Ortiz and Guererro and De La Hoya and Mitchell and Manfredy and Chavez and Hernandez and Baldomir and Judah
The guy held legit world titles at superfeather and light welter. Baldomir was a big welter and so was Gomez, and Gatti was older aswell in those fights. Also since when did that version of Baldomir become a bad fighter. He went on to be undisputed WW champ!
You must be confusing Phillip for Lovemore. Looking at that list of names, it's good. Nothing spectacular.
I loved the guy, but Gatti was a paper champ at 140. Gomez and Baldomir were journeyman level welterweights. Baldomir's size was about the only thing going for him. He was one of the worst champs in welterweight history and other than defeating Judah never accomplished anything else at that weight.
