There other thread got deleted for some reason. This is in response to PaulieMC who said boxing was on the decline in the US and booming in the UK.

Going over to the US does make you a better fighter. Its the Champions League of Boxing over there and only the elite can make it. In the UK you have the best fighters from the UK, in Germany you have the best fighters from Germany, in the US you have the best fighters from the US, Mexico, Phillipenes, UK, Canada and all over the world.

Calzaghe & Hatton became global stars when they fought in the US. Before that they were only known in the UK. They almost deffinatley made more money from there US fights than all there other fights put together.

Saying boxing is only big in the hispanic market first of all is wrong, and even if that was the case theres close to 100million hispanic people in the United States so that really wouldn't be an issue.

Mayweathers last 7 fights have got over 1million PPV buys. Even based on population viewing figures in the UK are far lower than in the USA.

The highest attendance for a show in the UK so far in 2013 has been Frampton v Martinez with 8,000. Canelo v Trout (40,000), Mayweather v Guererro (20,000), Garcia v Judah (14,000), Hopkins v Cloud (12,000) all beat that. Last year in the UK only one fight sold over 10,000 tickets!

Theres only been one world title fight in the UK this year that was Cleverly v Krasniqi, theres probably been 50 in the USA. Haye v Chisora was the only crossover fight last year and it got a max of 250,000 viewers.

If the US only give a **** about Mayweather & Pacquiao who do the British public give a **** about? David Haye and who else?

You say that promoters rely on hispanic and african americans to promote fights, that makes up 65% of the countrys population!!

Seriously when was the last time you have been to the United States? Go on the streets and ask people who is Carl Frampton, who is Kell Brook, who is Billy Joe Saunders and they will look at you with a blank expression.

We have so many fighters close to winning belts but no fighter is close to being the number 1 in there division. Haye v Klitscko, Froch v Ward, Macklin v Martinez, Cleverly v Dawson, Rose v Alvarez, Brook v Mayweather, Khan v Garcia, Burns v Broner, Selby v Garcia, Frampton v Rigondeux, McDonnell v Moreno. Not one British fighter would you even get 3-1 to win those fights. Would you back any Brit to beat those fighters? Are there any Brits in the top 10 P4P list? Are there any prospects coming through that look like there going to be P4P fighters?

Is Boxing as big as it used to be in the US? No. But thats the same in the UK. Do you honesty think boxing is boominh in the UK? You must be crazy.

What is this in aid of Rob? I agree America has the big bills and big venues, but surely it's who you fight, and not where you fight, that counts most

The USA is the G.O.A.T boxing nation, UK is like a fringe contender

    I really like this post.

British boxing fans are so arrogant, they think their fighters are better than they are.

There is never a British fighter who's the best in his division, and when they step up they get exposed time and time again.

Their best guy, Carl Froch got DEMOLISHED by Andre Ward in one of the most one sided fights you will ever see, and Ward is like not even a top 5 american super middle!

Mayweather knocked Hattan unconcious so easy, like this brit hype was just nothing, not even a sparring partner

America is so many levels above, and even when Brits have an actual skilled fihter, (junior witter, david haye) they still prefer to support talentless bums like Froch and Hattan

The funniest part is when the media shows the british people who come over here.

Fat, ugly, short, bald with yellow crooked teeth. the reporter asks them "who do you think will win tonights fight" and they go "ricky attan, only one ricky atton innit, knock him aaaat easy innit"

then "ricky attan" gets brutally exposed

There was a thread called "Idiot Americans booing" talking about how the booed during the Mayweather fight last night because they wanted blood and didnt appreciate real boxing. PaulieMC came in and said boxing is dieing in the US where its only big with hispanics and the sport is booming in the UK and he doesnt see why fighters like Hatton & Calzaghe botherd going to the US.

In general you will fight a better level of opponent in the US. If Burns went to the US only Broner, Abril & Vasquez would be picked up by HBO or Showtime, Burns could pretty much fight anyone on Sky Sports.

    Ah, I see

but still, you may fight a better level of opponent in the US, on a big stage, but that opponent may not be American

Look at Maidana vs Kotelnik, if that fight was in the US on terrestrial TV, not to mention if either guy was American, it would have tore the roof down and be glorified to this day on HBO

Yes, and thats part of my point. The best fighters in the world all go to the states.

The 2nd part doesn't make sense?

I agree with a lot of what you said Rob, but the point about Hispanics and African Americans is wrong. Whites make up 74 per cent of the US population. However, the two groups you mention are still probably bigger combined than the UK population.
