Anyone catch Martin Murray commenting on the GGG vs Macklin fight last night, think it was between Mares/PDL and Guerrero/PBF? I know there's no love lost between Murray and Macklin, but he didn't give Mack better than a punchers chance - said there's nothing GGG isn't better at, to paraphrase. Mack seems an OK guy and decent boxer, but it looks like I'm not alone in thinking this'll only go one way.
Golovkin has far too much for Macklin. A fighter of Macklin's ability could do alright if he was a defensive minded fighter but the way Macklin fights just isn't going to work against Golovkin. Macklin will take some heavy shots early and if he is lucky, one of those will stop him but if he's unlucky, he's in for a prolonged, brutal beating.
Cant see it being prolonged myself, think it'll be early.Macklins had a decent career but never beat a world class middleweight.I reckon either of the 2 on the Mayweather bill would have beat him.
Gabriel Rosado? J'Leon Love? No way. Macklin is a big strong MW with decent skills. Rosado is a JMW street fighter which came too late to the sport to learn technical skills. Rosado would not be able to hurt Macklin. JLeon Love is a up&coming hype. He is to a large degree a construction. Unless he dominates a Rosado-type fighter with skills he does not belong in the upper echelons of the sport. And he eeked out a split-decision win while suffering a KD....back to the gym...
Karaganda,we got to agree to differ, mate.Jamie Moore was an excellent JMW,slightly short of world class, though many would argue with that, and he knocked Macklin out. Also outboxed early career by a now unknown Sheffield lad.Never actually beat a world class middle, same as Darren Barker. Not exactly a packed division, but the only one of ours,IMO,who beats this kind of opponent is Murray.People like Minter,Finnegan,Sibson and Graham beat better men in non title fights. The way of the world nowadays seems to be that some kind of titles got to be on the line.Anyway, well get some kind of yardstick to my hypothetical statement when Mack fights GGG,as Rosado already has.
Ted 822, I agree to differ but I really hope Golovkin -Macklin is going to play out differently than Golovkin-Rosado. Rosado way too defensive, spoiled the fun. Also - Macklin had a split decision loss to Sturm when Sturm still had a pair, that got to count for something.
