What makes him great is his resume and whom he beat. Being overrated is a matter of opinion, but his resume does warrant a top 10 ATG ranking.

Would you like to make an argument for that?

How does Tyson's wins over Berbick, Holmes and Spinks equate to him being able to beat Ali?

How can Ali be over rated when he was fighter of the decade twice in a weight division?
Has any other boxer been fighter of the decade in a division twice in his career?
If you look at Rings top 10 heavyweights of 1963 and 1973 Ali defeated 19 0f 20 with the exception of Eddie Machen who he never fought. If you clean out the division in two different decades it's hard to be over rated. He also beat three fighters who are generally regarded as top 10 in the division two who were thought to be invincible at the time of fighting Ali

The onus is on you to tell us why Ali's losses and kd's hold more weight in terms of him being overrated than those suffered by other fighters that you believe would destroy him.

So far, you've done a pretty lousy job of it.

Tyson would have bum rushed Ali and stopped him quick.

I value resume more. Otherwise you would have to rank Barkley over Hearns,Jones over MAB,Forest over Mosley

If fighter A would beat fighter B in a hypothetical match then fighter A is better than fighter B and should be ranked higher.

Ali does get overrated by some, but that's an indictment on the people that make it seem as though any fighter is unbeatable and that they destroy absolutely anyone, not Ali.

Muhammad's an ATG and no worse than a top 3 HW all time no matter how you slice it. That doesn't mean everybody who's fought since he did would never take a round off of him.

No Tyson and Lewis would not beat Ali. Tyson has a better shot but Lewis? This guy never beat anyone good in the prime.
And Tyson? Tyson would scare Ali,Tyson would be unraveled by Ali's mental warfare,Tyson was a 5 round KO artist. Ali survived huge punchers in his career.
    Ali stops Tyson late

    Ali kills Lummox Lewis TKO7

Nope. Ali with an iron chin and elusiveness would survive Tyson's early onslaught. Take over late and stop him. Ali was never KO'd in his prime, dropped only a few times.
Tyson isn't stopping Ali early and when is he gonna do it? Tyson has like 2 KO's past round 5. Ali wins by TKO late.

And I am a huge Tyson fan. An old Larry Holmes was able to push Tyson into the 4th right?

Ali overrated? I dont know buthe is the #2 or #1 heavyweight of all time.

Beat Frazier twice,Liston twice,Foreman via KO in his prime,Spinks,Patterson twice,Moore (old Moore)
Ali beat Jerry Quarry too via TKO. I wont even bring up the debatable wins over Norton or Young but look at all his real wins. Only 3 time lineal legit champ.

Funny how people predict a Tyson-Ali fight just on skills and don't take into account that Tyson was a head case, and Ali was a mastermind and would bring out every bit of mental weakness in a fighter..

Tyson would have to be put in a heavily padded room after the presser.. Ali would have made easy work out of him.

I see there is a lot of hype on top of Ali's considerable skills. I tend to discount his greatest fighter of all time status just because that mantra is repeated over and over again. That being said, I can't think of one single fighter of that era he dodged. Supposedly SRR avoided Charley Burley and and SR Leonard avoided Aaron Pryor. Ali didn't avoid anyone.
Ali should be in anyone's top 5, even haters.
