Boxing fans, do you consider Bernard Hopkins a great defensive fighter? I know he likes to keep his head and chin down, and swings at you left and right. But I've never seen this dude get knockout or knocked flat on his ass. Maybe against Mercado but he still got back up and almost won the fight.

yes, but I think he is a great tactician. He knows how to slow the fight down. Although again it is the art of handpicking which Mayweather and Hopkins are excelling at.

Stupidest Question. The man has never been cut or busted up except for a few knockdowns in his career. Only B-Hop and Floyd are the true Slick and Black and best defense that are still active.

That's like asking, is Bill Gates really a billionaire?

Yeah because prime RJJ,Winky Wright,Johnson,Taylor,De La Hoya,Trinidad,Pavlik,Calzaghe,Pascal and Dawson are all handpicked gtfo Hopkins although being a little too defensive at times always fought the best guys in his division.

Okay fair enough, would you pick Bernard's tactics or Floyds shoulder roll defense?

I like both and Floyd's isn't just about shoulder roll defense, Floyd also uses the high guard and very good cat like dodge and head movement reflexes.

The good thing about Floyd's defense is his speed and he is faster than B-Hop.

Now moving on to B-Hop, B-Hop defense is really something because the guy is really hard to even hit cleanly and he might not have the speed of a Mayweather but B-Hop is very good in judging distance basically defending on the inside. He also got very good footwork and very good ring generalship and he has very good legs for a 45+ yr old.

    As an ideal? Mayweather.

    As an actual student? Hopkins.

The things Mayweather does you have to be born with. Hopkins is a blue collar fighter that uses pure tactics and grit. Much easier to copy Hopkins than Mayweather.
